Jurgen Klopp has reached an agreement in principle to become the new head coach of Germany's men's national team.

Ken Bates, who has died aged 94, was one of the most colourful, controversial - and highly significant - figures in the modern football era.

Bates was best known for his ownership of Chelsea over more than two decades of turbulence and success, buying the club for £1 in 1982 before selling to Roman Abramovich in a £140m deal in July 2003.

A peak of 24 million viewers tuned into the BBC’s coverage of England’s defeat to Argentina in the World Cup semi-final on BBC1 and iPlayer.

This made it the most-watched live television moment of the year across all broadcasters and the biggest live TV audience for a broadcaster since 2021 (the Euro 2020 Final between Italy and England).

The game averaged 22.1 million viewers and was streamed 12.6 million times across iPlayer, the BBC Sport website and the BBC Sport app.
 
Chelsea have agreed a club record £117m deal to sign England midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.

The 23-year-old will sign a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge, with an option for a further year.
