Paradise set for special trophy day party

By: Newsroom Staff on 07 Apr, 2012

CELTIC´S 6-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park has confirmed Neil Lennon´s side as the SPL Champions for 2011/12. And the Hoops will be presented with the trophy at the final league game of the season.

That match at Celtic Park on Sunday, May 13 against Hearts (KO: 12.30pm) is sure to be a special Celtic celebration and one that will see Paradise in party mood.

The Hoops have two home games prior to the Hearts game - against Rangers on Sunday, April 29 (KO: 12.45pm) and then St Johnstone on Thursday, May 3 (KO: 7.45pm) - and it was felt that it was important to have as many Celtic fans as possible at the stadium for the trophy presentation.

The derby game has a much larger visiting support than other home games, while the Thursday evening match would see many Celtic fans from further afield, in particular the large support which comes over from Ireland, miss out on this special occasion.

Neil Lennon´s side have done themselves and the club proud with their magnificent title triumph, and Celtic Park will rise to acclaim them when they are presented with the trophy on May 13. This is just the beginning...

Celtic launch 125th anniversary home kit

By: Newsroom Staff on 26 Apr, 2012

CELTIC Football Club is delighted to announce the unveiling for the first time of its new home kit, marking and celebrating the Club’s 125th anniversary.

The 2012/13 season is set to be a special one, as the Club will be celebrating 125 years of proud history.

Nike has created special kits for this landmark anniversary, starting with a new home kit.

The hoop represents the history of Celtic, it represents the family, it is inclusive and should never be broken. With this kit, Nike has looked at ways to contemporise the Hoops in a clean and classic way.

A Celtic home jersey traditionally has seven unbroken Hoops. This season, there are nine thinner hoops, linking back to the nine consecutive Scottish league titles Celtic won between 1965 and 1974. It is a record that has never been broken.

The jerseys have an anniversary crest, celebrating the Club’s 125th anniversary. The pattern around the crest is Celtic knot-work. This kind of design again ties back to the Celtic origins of the Club.

The jersey has a small Celtic mark at the outer back neck and marks the foundation year and the year of the anniversary at the inner back neck.

The new jersey is worn with white shorts with the Celtic knot-work detail printed on the side panels and with black socks with a green and white hoop, again to underline the Club’s heritage.

Main club sponsor Tennent’s Lager, a supporter of Scottish football for almost 40 years, has changed its branding on the Club’s home shirts to mark the club’s 125th Anniversary.

The logo will now appear below the club crest on the left breast of the shirt rather than across the chest as in previous seasons.

Tennent’s believe that the way in which the brand has been incorporated into the new strip is a fitting way to celebrate the Club’s 125th anniversary.

This move has been welcomed by the Club, and will be appreciated by the supporters who will wear this classic kit.

Steve Annand, Commercial Managing Director for Tennent Caledonian Breweries, said: “When we were approached about the new kit designs and talked through the sentiments behind this special anniversary for the club we wanted to play our part to help create what will become a truly classic Celtic shirt, we have achieved this in a positive way.

“The kit design is based on the original world-famous Hoops first worn in 1903 and we feel our branding fits this perfectly.”

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: "We´re very grateful to Tennent´s for the way in which they have recognised and shown such commitment to the Club´s 125th Anniversary season.

"It is magnificent that we will enter our 125th season as Champions of Scotland and we are sure that our supporters will enjoy celebrating this very important milestone.

“We have enjoyed an excellent relationship with Tennent’s during our very successful partnership and they are without doubt one of the finest brands with which we have had the privilege to work.

“Tennent´s have been one of the most important brands in Scottish football over a number of decades, we thank all those at Tennent´s for their support and we look forward to continuing this great relationship."

And the Chief Executive added: "Once again we are delighted with the fantastic design which our kit supplier Nike has developed.

“We have been grateful to enjoy a strong relationship with Nike, such a successful global sports brand. This has been a hugely beneficial partnership for the Club and our supporters and it is one we hope to continue for some time.”

The new Celtic home kit will be available in July 2012.

Manager meets the Thai Tims

By: Newsroom Staff on 01 May, 2012

NEIL Lennon was at Celtic Park today (Tuesday) for a press conference ahead of Thursday night´s home match against St Johnstone. But before meeting the media, the manager had some more important guests to greet.

Because he wanted to meet the Thai Tims, who are staying at Paradise during their visit to Scotland. And the kids were thrilled to meet one of their heroes. Not surprisingly, they entertained the Celtic boss with some songs.

The Thai Tims will be performing at Celtic Park this Thursday, May 3 ahead of the game against St Johnstone (KO: 7.45pm). And the manager admitted that his players are all looking forward to seeing the kids sing.

"It was lovely to meet the Thai Tims," the manager told the official Celtic website. "The kids are great. They’re such a phenomenon. I was really looking forward to meeting them and off the back of a great weekend, it was a nice way to start the week off.

"It’s amazing and the work that’s been done over the years has been fabulous and they’ve become such a part of the club now, and so popular with everyone associated with the club, particularly the fans.

"All the players are looking forward to seeing them on Thursday night. They’ve really captured the hearts of the people and it just enhances the home games and adds to the special atmosphere we’ve had at Celtic Park."

The Thai Tims will be appearing at Celtic Park this Thursday, May 3 before the St Johnstone game (KO: 7.45pm). The kids will be singing on the pitch and they´re guaranteed a warm welcome from the Celtic fans.

So make sure you get along to Paradise in plenty of time before the game to see the Thai Tims, who will be on the pitch at 7.10pm.

i dont know how to post pics or vids on here.so here is the new celtic away kit link

The Only Official Celtic FC Online Superstore | New Celtic Away Kit 2012/13 | 125th Anniversary | Football shirts | Shorts | Socks

i'd prefer the new home if it didn't have the sponsor the way it is now either spread right across the front or put on the bottom back etc.

obvis i'd love it not to have any sponsor or manufacture logo on it but cant see that every happening, one of by favorite away kits was the green and black pin stripe shirt with no sponsor and the hoops of the same era

Charlie picks up another award

Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew has been named Scottish Football Writers Association Player of the Year.

The award caps a sensational season for the 23-year-old who was also named the club's top player and is on the shortist for the PFA equivalent this Sunday.

Mulgrew, affectionately known to the fans as Chico Muldini, believes his time away from the club has helped him develop as a player.

Released by former boss Gordon Strachan, Mulgrew had spells at Wolves, Southend and Aberdeen before Neil Lennon made him his first signing.

"It's hard for me to say I would have got to where I am if I hadn't left Celtic but I know I learned a lot when I went away," he said.

"I grew up a great deal and I believe the fact I had to leave the club helped me.

"When you're away from Celtic Park you realise how big a club this is and you appreciate what was done for you.

"Now I hear the fans sing a song for me and it is incredible and humbling. When you're a young Celtic fan you dream of hearing the fans sing just for you."
