In my opinion, nothing to worry about. Might have been a minor connection glitch. One thing I have found is that, these boxes once settled and up and fully running, work flawlessly.

Thanks a lot it's put my at ease, I have a test line that's working great, I'm still dubious about full purchase over Internet, but I imagine people selling on tech kings are reliable? Thanks again.

It would be good to buy from one of the 'trusted' members here, but it isn't the norm. You can look up the meaning of 'trusted' members in one of the rules under stickies. As a guide, no matter who you get your line from, ensure that unless the person has been given the vote of confidence, do not buy anything like 12 months gift...quarterly should give you a leeway to switch.

If I may ask, why are you dubious about the current test line? If this is a sensitive information, you can PM me.
 
Just because I'm new to it all first ever Linux box and I don't want to be ripped off that's all, but then I can be dubious about what colour underwear I put on in the morning maybe I'm worrying over nothing but I have seen people get ripped off.

edit, I can get 1 month for 10 quid off my tester that's reasonable right? Cheers.

If you trust your line provider there is nothing wrong with getting a 12 month sub as it may work out to be a lot cheaper But if it goes tits up you only have yourself to blame

Hey Rusty, first of all, thanks for the update and the additional detail. My original installation (as a complete newbie) was done with the help of our Tich. I have tried not to muck about with the nice settings from sucmnsee. My question now is, to use this update, do I need to repeat the steps Tich and I took to setup my box i.e. format and setup USB, download and flash with the updated image, enter line etc...? Or what?

Im not sure what your getting at, so this may or may not help!
The guide was updated as I had forgot to include the wee "fine tuning" settings Id amended for my own personal use, and as the whitelist files have been updated, there is now no need to manually add Setanta and Premier HD etc.
So, if you just wish to amend settings, then basically just follow the relevant section of the guide that refers to the settings you want to amend. Some people may not want timeshift for example, so they ignore that section.
But, at the end of the day - just do what I did - experiment! Take a note of the value of any setting before you change it, and what menu option it was under, so you can find it and change it back - thats all I did !
 
Timeout for tuner lock

Help!

Didn't think I was totally stupid, but got as far as autobouquets maker, did that, then start scan and I permanently get a error message Timeout for tuner lock.

Is there something stupid I'm missing.

have checked the cable are correct in the back.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Using both tuners a and b top left bottom right if only using tuner a you need to disable tuner be in tuner configuration

Using s2 try disabling tuner b then run scan and switch cables over to check both cables if that works then disable tuner a and enable tuner b check if it works there so your checking if there's a fault with cables or tuners
 
Seems both tuners are not working, any idea where i can get factory firmware to reflash so I can send box back as faulty.

What lnb are you using as these boxes don't like old lnbs check signal on both tuners by looking on first page ie sat finder

Wow that's second 1 in 2 days it seems the other 1 with cable hasn't resolved his issue is yours from mobishop.
Is it the black one

been playing with lots of settings now and a bit lost, but have it doing a service scan and i have some channels appearing, so will see what happens next and the box didn't come from mobishop, wont say at moment incase i need to send it back

The SNR is 90%, but BER is 0 (what is BER?), to me that looks like I have a signal as the service scan found 500+ channel but quite a few were repeated.

does this mean anything to someone?
