Network issues VM

hi

Zgemma h2s running wooshbuild 7, and a vpn.

Had VM fibre installed today and now my box wont run iptv or Speedtest etc. This issue remains wether the vpn is on or off, but can't understand why speedtest would be affected. The VM connection is good as tested on other devices using the same Ethernet connection.

If I plug sly back in the h2s the box works fine, iptv and speed tests run fine.

Is there something I need to change, or settings I missed on the box or VM router?

Any help appreciated

Are there not 2 web safe settings on v/m.

change to google dns 8 8 8 8 and 8 8 4 4 in the device network settings.

have you tried putting box in deep standby (power button on remote until menu appears and then deep standby) and then rebooting the router?

Rebooted both, and noticed the zgemma had obtained a new IP address...
My hen went into do a network test, but the op address came up red and status unconfirmed.
Just changed the DNS setting but it doesn't seem to hold the 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4, after the long message about activating the configuration it comes back on and the DNS is the same as before.

Would a complete reflash be an option?

using a PC/laptop... you need two progs...putty & filezilla (or another ftp prog):

login to box with filezilla & highlite 'etc' in the upper right panel then in the lower right panel look for a file named 'resolv.conf' but dont do any more just yet...next step is to open putty & login to the box, once logged in type 'init 4' & press enter (box will stop), now go back to filezilla & open/edit the resolv.conf file, you will see two IP addresses for namedserver...edit these to 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 then save the file & exit filezilla, go back to putty & type 'init 3' (box will restart), exit putty.

When the box has rebooted your dns settings should be saved

Thanks beaky but just in the middle of starting from scratch using a USB stick.
Hopefully i will get somewhere as it's downloading the info it needs....

atv 6.1 by default gets the DNS from the vm router, so even if you change it it reverts back, you need to edit a system file to make it permanent. I have to do this for my build so that it can be changed

The internet comes back on a freshly flashed box....but as soon as I use the plugin Add VPN Easily then it's a complete stopper....

Is there an issue with this at the moment?

Ok reflashed the box again as completely lost internet connection again.

Internet speed test works fine again. Trying to login with FileZilla to change the DNS settings and I just get connection timed out....

Turn off vpn. Goto network menu configure network from there and change dhpc to no then set Google dns

Nameserver 1 8.8.8.8
Nameserver 2 8.8.4.4

Press ok then you should be asked to confirm nameservers press ok

Turn on vpn and run a network test in network menu.

I do this as soon as I reflash and works without editing the resolve.conf just make sure you turn off dhpc, some have said they needed to reconfigure network a few times before it would stick.

a 24 hour update/struggle.....
moved on to a second box to confirm issue and had the same issues. have had hours of messing around.
eventually i have had a breakthrough...
manually set up the openvpn, adding folders in /etc.
then followed steps to chenge the dns to 8888 and 8844......
and we do now have an internet connection, and when tried though vpn it seems to be behaving.

one thing i do notice is a massive ping rate.....1200ms, and an massive drop in mb (before on sly i had 23 mb and got 18mb on vpn, on vm the box picks up between 50-80mb, but through vpn its 7mb)
will such a high ping impact on iptv?

and lastly a big thanks to everyone who has offered advice and help so far. without it i worry how much hair loss i would have had.
