Are all cable channels encrypted?

I keep getting tuner failed (b) on all virgin channels (uk)

i havent added a cable line yet but going to add one soon

are all the channels encrypted or have i added the wrong scan?

and have you entered correct id for your area

also does the box have a cable tuner in ?

basic Freeview channels should be viewable

Not on cable.
BBC 1 & 2, ITV 1, Channel 4 and 5 (all SD versions - not HD) are usually all that will clear without a line.
