You can put the details inside the newcamlist blank file OR you can drop a complete newcamlist file in that folder if you already have one.
 
Hi, need help with this, installed fine, put line on fine, put my area in fine (Grimsby 00022), restarted mgcamd fine.

......no picture, just a black screen, I have locked icon on pretty much all channels- still get standard bbc 1 though.
i like to think I know what I'm doing as I've had vix before with no probs.
im getting a bit frustrated .....
help!!!
 
I have flashed the box using your files successfully but the screen is blank apart from the program info bar at the bottom. The VM Preview channel is the only one to work. Do I have to add my line before any channel will work or have I missed something out?

Hi everyone. I've been reading through this forum for a while and just received my h.2h today. Lets see how i get on with it. i appreciate your help in advance.
 
-Hi again.I flashed the box, searched and found channels and bouquets to my locality. FTA channels are working. active CAM1 : mgcamd_1.38r1, i got the line in
CWS = servername.com my details 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 I still can't view paid channels. Any ideas will be appreciated.

I didn't change anything with Filezilla while I was putting in Line except details in newcamd.list.BLANK. Do i need to delete top part of this

#CWS_KEEPALIVE = 300
CWS_INCOMING_PORT = 2100

In Filezilla delete the (.BLANK) from newcamd.list.BLANK right click on newcamd.list edit, delete everything but CWS = (Don't forget the space after = ) save by exiting. press blue button on remote (the one on the right, which looks green to me) Softcam, softcam panel and restart. Unplug the box, wait a bit and plug it back in and wait for it to boot. This worked for me and only took me 24 hours to figure it out.

...a little update : it works!!!!
the only thing I did differently was to unplug box, wait, then plug it back in!!

Brilliant thanks, straight forward apart from i really struggled with the line though, channels showing as locked even though they are not, ending up switching off and on again, not sure if it did the job but all channels are now up, thanks again
 
@skullduggery only for the zgemma h2h. It will work on the h2s but a bit pointless as that doesn't have cable tuners.

@gav28uk it's the VM numbering scheme, and numbers are displayed on the Now/Next EPG - but not the main EPG. You can always change that yourself in the settings though.

Thanks for the reply. Just to confirm are you saying that the channel numbers can appear within the main EPG if I modify the settings? If this is the case I'll be sure to give your image a go :-)

It should be a case of flashing the image, add your nline (newcamd.list and mg_cfg), configure autobouquetsmakers for your area and off you go. It's pretty much a working base image with no extras - additional software will have to be installed yourself. You MAY have to switch the EPG save location to your SD card/USB rather than internal flash.

Default skin is VSkin Bolt. Chose VSkin for a more VM-Tivo like look. SkyQ skin is installed as an option, along with Red HD (Old VM skin) and Slyk (standard Sky skin). Change the skin as follows:
Menu>Setup>Usage & GUI>Skin Setup

***How to Install + Setup*****

VM Cable feed should be connected to Tuner B, not Tuner A. You need a Coax-to-F connector adaptor - you can get them for about a fiver instore, or less on ebay.

Make sure your ethernet cable is hooked up to the router.

Flash as usual:
Extract the ZIP file to the root of a USB drive.
Turn your box off.
Insert USB into the REAR usb port
Turn box on - front should say FLSH.
Box will then boot and show from -00- to -99-. Once this changes to the time, the box has booted. It will show loading on the TV screen as it's not setup for your area yet - see below.


Get your line on. Image uses MGcamd, so newcamd.list format required (CWS =)
FTP your newcamd.list in to /usr/keys
(If you don't know how to FTP, I suggest Filezilla and use youtube for video guides).


Change to your area:
Menu>Setup>Service Searching>AutoBouquetsMaker>Providers
Change the area number in ABM to your area (default is 00013 Reading).
Press Green, and go to "Start Scan" - it should delete the existing bouquets then get the ones for your area.
Menu>Setup>Service Searching>Tuner Config>Tuner B
Change NetID to your area



***Additional things to do after install:***


If not already done, initialise your SD/USB
Menu>Setup>System>Storage Devices>Initialisation>Your Drive>Press Red
Once done, it's recommended to convert to Ext4 (but not required)


Double check EPG will save to your drive. Change if required.
Menu>Setup>EPG>Settings>EPG Location

Things to check when you install:
Make sure swap is enabled and autostarts
Double check timeshifts + recordings are configure to SD card
EPG saves to SD card.
Most of these should be ok, but if it's the first time you're using the box the SD card likely isn't setup yet.
This is the very first time I've done this, so there might be a few issues! If you find anything, post and I don't mind trying to fix it!
I do like a clean base, but if there's any heavily requested apps I'll consider them for future releases.
