Can I put XBMC or Kodi on my receiver?

Hi, I've just found out about Kodi and I've put it on my computer. I was wondering if it's possible to put this software onto my XPEED LX2 via a USB hard drive or some other way please?

Hi cactikid, thanks for replying. I had a look and seen 'kodidirect 2.0' so I'm installing that and will see what it does. Will reply back shortly.

Hi. I installed it and it is what I was looking for, the plugin basically puts XBMC/Kodi onto the box and then you add streaming plugins using that. However, I can't get any of them to work. I tried icefilms plugin and although it lists a lot of movies whenever I click on one it just highlights the 'exit' button and the movie can't be played. I installed the popcornflix plugin and that lists movies too but I also can't play them. On the Bild-de plugin it gave me the option to play a sports file but all that happens is 'openvix' comes up on the screen like a screen saver and the rest of the screen is blank.

Is there something simple I'm doing wrong?

If you are on vix I would just wait as they are putting a working xbmc pluging into the next build in the next few days as all their feeds and down as they rebuild the whole image.

Try aaastreams on iptv, TSmedia. For the footy. Showbox for movies

vix feeds are not down just checked 2 mins ago,feeds down for solo2 only while a rebuild is in process.not used kodi or know how to setup up.

Ok sorry vix feeds are down for only solo 2 < the box I have. A admin on their site said something about a xbmc plugin will be working after the new rebuild

The solo2 build has been trashed and were rebuilding it again now along with some tweaks for the XBMC plugin, could be two or three days before its back up again.

Thanks djkross, I will wait a few days for the next Vix build to see if I can get Kodidirect to work properly. I did get a YouTube video playing but it just went on a loop and I couldn't get back to the main channel list on the box. I had to restart it.

conmur, this is how to add plugins on my box, yours could be similar.

Menu - Plugins - Download Plugins (by pressing the green button on remote) - Extensions - Scroll down list till you see plugin you wish to install and click OK. It will tell you if it installed ok.

If you have problems then reply and I'll try to help. Good luck. I am going to try and install the xmbcaddons plugin to see if that works. I'll report back shortly.

When I installed xmbcaddons I just got a message saying Kodidirect was the supported plugin now and that I should install that. So hopefully OpenVix are going to update Kodidirect so it will work but it could be something in my settings that isn't properly configured because I also installed TSmedia plugin and when I went to the movies channel this is the message I get when trying to play any movie from any stream site e.g yifyHD Movies 'Error:Addon error, no returned data, check details with Info button'. The log displayed by the Info button as a lot of addon path information leading to python directories which doesn't make any sense to me. I can't see any 'error' messages though.

Hi Post101, yeah I'm on Kodidirect 2.0 but when I navigated to Frodo Direct and installed Popcornflix I just get another error message 'Error:Please submit debug log /tmp/e.log.'

I'm not at my box yet to mess around with it, I've been reading up on this most of this evening and a guy on a different forum called PCD created this kodi addon.

If I get mine working I will point you in the right direction.

ok just see that most tsmedia plugin's with error messages are because there is no default.py, you can put a xbmc default.py for the right plugin and the plugin will load but wont get any further.

The Kodi addon is so temperamental. I've been through the whole thing tonight and for me (on 2 separate boxes) only around 10% (if that) of the links are working without the error.

That is a shame. Hopefully the developers can fix it because it would be a great plugin to have on the box.

Ok to get the brand new xbmc on VIX you have to update the image. I suggest to do a full re-flash by USB. @post101 yes but it Gotham. I've only manage to get a few plugins to work. @mr chew try this opkg install enigma2-plugin-extensions-xbmc in telnet.
