Other forums say sky italia sd is okay. I think people are getting too carried away. Hd is clearly going away gradually but i'm not gonna cry
 
People who know there stuff (i dont include myself in this bracket) are adamant sd is here for a while yet. A year or so before we need to worry.

Only time will tell I guess but people need to stop over reacting IMO.

Hi mate. I think a lot of folks are drawing a comparison between the uk and italia in that italia hd went down which looks like its now happening here. So there's panic over italia sd as well for some.

I presume the two are comlletely unrelated and even if italia sd goes then it doesnt mean to say the same will imminently happen to the uk?

If so then perhaps worth putting in the first post that what happens with sky italia bears no relation to sky uk whatsoever.

...Not that everyone will read it in their wild panic lol.
 
here is the latest info from my server

[FONT=&quot]from 24 april HD channels changing codec Algorithm and broadcasting streams to allow for new mpeg5 epg system to be launched and added to all HD paired boxes via software upgrade.
through this new feature HD channles play only at skyHD original box.

in detail: when u play any channel ecm(code) came to decode channel from server but now Ecm(Code) Algorithm also check everytime skyHD box card viewing number + serial number if that matches with sky record then channel ok on skyHd original box for that user must put card 24/7 in skyHD box and internet+phone line also insert to SkyHD box then user able to watch HD channels.
from that system sky verify that card was not used in server and user is watching tv through skyHD box on location which record he provided them.


in short: at moment sky is cutting off ability to share HD channels on cardsharing through server they are moving HD channels one by one to new system. from 24 apr till today skyArts 1HD,Skyarts 2HD, National geoprahic HD,Crime HD,History HD,Skyliving HD,Natgeo Wild HD gone to new system.


same channels which gone off from HD remain available for cardsharing at SD mode you can watch them at normal mode . serch in box at all sat channels and add them to your favourite list if u need.


when new pairing system Algorithm cracked as it was last time in 2011,2012 then HD channels will back again we hope got some solution soon.[/FONT]
 
If your server is correct Mike then we shouldn't have to worry, for quite some time at least, about losing the sd variants of those channels we will lose, and are losing, on hd.

I for one am quite content to have sd, especially if the alternative is to have nothing at all. Having something is better than having nothing.

So he is saying that to watch HD channels, you have to have an internet connection and phone connection to the box?

I can't see that being the case.
 
i am quite happy with SD you are still saving quite a bit of money.

i think what he meant to say was in future you will need internet connection to be able to record in HD. why not make people do it microsoft where going to with there latest console.

you need a network connection to watch catch up tv ect

sky knows i have no phone line on my boxes as i dont have a land line and have never moaned about the fact i dont have one

Maybe, maybe not - I've been hanging onto those [god awful] Dboxes in the hope of such a shining knight ;)

The trick won't be finding a way around it per se [that's already probably known] but doing it economically and a willingness to share widely, do you know such a generous whizz-kid?
The hobbyist hackers won't be keen on doing a lot of sharing, given that they'll [rightly so] see the commercial servers as the ones that fucked it up anyway.

Be sure to let me know if you come across a fix before I do, I'll do the same :)
 
there is alot of people have a intrest in a fix, not just the commercial servers also the people who make the boxes. without the servers there is no mass market for the blade box,vu range or skybox to name just a few.
 
This sounds like the XBOX ONE sort of malarkey, which MS had to back peddle on quite quickly. The Always connected and check online to verify every 24 hours to play games on your console $hit actually lead to a lot of people jumping ship to PS4.

I guess Sly are taking a page out of MS's book and now they want to make sure that your HDBox is always connected to the internet to prevent card-sharing. I don't think it needs to be connected to the phone lines because the data transfer speed needed for the verification might be higher than what one can get off a phone line.

The changing of the codec seems to be another part of the project.
