Skys sole purpose for doing this is to try get customers back and end some of these servers end of why else they have people with old boxes that cant get there service now that makes alot of sense and they haven't hit their estimated revenue targets in last 2 years hence the reason they couldn't outbid Bt Sport in the Champions League bidding war and a simple firmware update on a Thomson box can give you new services or any old sky hd box for that matter
 
There is NO firmware update for the Thomson box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does Sly plan on taking its HD codec change over to FTA HD channels such as BBC HD/ITV HD ?

I don't want to miss out the World Cup HD telecast. Would plan on getting a Freesat HD box then.
 
Why would they do that the bbc? That would make no sense, you pay your tv license then you need a sky subscription to make it work? Lol
 
I can't believe some of the stuff that is being posted here and some of it laid down as gospel. For a start bbc/itv are fta and that will always remain so. Second, a codec is used to compress/decompress a digital signal. See Wikipedia. It has nothing to do with encryption or paring. Thirdly, anyone that's thinks that this change from sly isn't primarily to do with shutting down cs is kidding themselves. Also if the claim that what sly are doing is introducing problems (for normal customers), why aren't there complaints all over the internet. As for a fix. I'll believe it when I see it.
 
I'm pretty green to this but understand the HD going etc but where are my SD channels?, can't find them anywhere. Help.

Could not agree more with your last three points. As much as I would love the "fix" talk to be true, I am sceptical that one exists. I also searched around to find these thousands of complaints from Sly subscribers.......I gave up looking.

Also, SD viewing might be better than nothing, but I miss those HD channels.

It hasn't moved since AJ's latest list (5/6/14).

I still get them both on 10921H (SD) & 12324V (HD).

So the rest of the sports hd channels going this week well the sky ones any then all the kids going next but good news new box being developed in China that can take the H265 encryption code so all is good
