the new flash says "script to change the pics in the V-Skin menus daily" Not sure what this means,is it in the main menu where there used to pictures that have been replaced by TOP PICKS ,IN MY SHOWS etc.

Yes but when reflashing Monday I had to remove it as the script didn't work but will add it back when I work out why

I've got this image installed but have read that OTA update are problematic ATM. Though it's been said if the image made in the last 2.5months then the updates should be fine. I just want to confirm whether OTA updates are fine ATM with this image
 
Yes if you downloaded the image from Tuesday ota updates are fine. Mentioned a few posts back

I'm using the image from the first release - don't update and the image works fine - will it still update the custommix.xml file when restarting? Or has support for that stopped? Do you recommend updating?

Yes it'll still update when restarting upto if you want to update there's more support for skins, skyq picons and other plugins that are available via download plugins via by my webserver and will update on ota updates

Hi,

Noob here, so would appreciate some help. I've looked at the first post and I hope to use that to setup my box. When flashing, can you do this from a hard drive, or does it have to be USB stick?

Once flashed, you don't need it again (correct me if I'm wrong please), so then could I use that same hard drive (once formatted) for the storage for recorded programs?

Or would I just be better off buying a USB stick dedicated for flash, and using the hard drive for storage? Another questions about the storage, is that it is better to use one that is externally powered, rather than USB powered from the box, right?

Apologies if this all seems pretty simple, like I said, I'm a complete newbie.

You need to flash with a usb I use SanDisk 8gb for flashing you can use it for the storage device aswell bu you wouldn't be able to record much to it. For the hard drive I use a 500gb usb hard drive without issues.

That's great, thank you. Once flashed, will I need that USB again, or can I then start using it for other things?

I do currently have a SanDisk USB, which I've read seem to be the best for flashing boxes, but I'm using it for uni and has my project work on there, so I'm a bit tentative to just go ahead and use that one if I can no longer use it.
 
What changes would I need to do to get this to work with just sat?

I am installing one of these boxes for a family member who currently only has sat connection VM cant install cable line until after new year then they will be using subs for both.
 
Use an h2s image from the h2s section until there ready for vm then install this image.

On the EPG menu pressing channel up/down button changes the day instead of page up/down - was working okay before but since restarting this has started to happen - how do I get it back to change page up/down again?

I changed that a while ago look at the bottom of the guide for epg layout use 2 and 8 I may change it back on next release but that won't be for a while.

Alternatively goto kiddacs slyk1hd thread in his Dropbox account in slyk1hd he has a skin modifications folder following the instructions for adding epgselection.py

Really? why is it so difficult then?

This is not really an option they live 200 miles away just down for xmas and even plugging in the cables for the box takes them long time so no way they could mess about flashing.
