What operating system are you using Vista Xp etc, also where did you get the cable you are trying to flash the box with?

What way did you try to set up your serial port, was it via the device manager or ?.

Also

Are you using a USB convertor lead or "null modem cable"
straight between the box and computer.

Is it an A780 ?

you could always try changing the com port number in the loader program
and see if the firmware loads as a quick and easy suggestion, if it doesn't
send us some more info.:)

thanks for replying i was using a usb serial converter with a cable it seems that the drive wasnt installed completely
its now done and using com port 3 ive completed the download sucsessfully.the only problem now is the box seems to be rebooting
constantly.the box is a A780

i used the file from the tutorial.ill just delete the flash and redo .i need to use usb adapter as i have no null modem
conection on my laptop any tips on how to remove flash ?

There are two files that work in the download section on this site here

Kryptview_A780_ 29112011 :

and

Kryptview_A780_24042011

Just re flash with one of these and that should sort it out

Once reflashed with one of the two files, do a S\W update to flash over the internet to the very latest firmware (26/04/2012).

jodav :)

getting nowhere dispite all the help im receiving.box keeps scrooling from P0 to P250.
all attempts to reflash come to nothing keep getting message download not requested.
i have box of my own that works great but got this one for a friend. when i eventually
manage to flash it will it require connect to WI FI router with ethernet the same as my
own ( it was supplied without a cable ) ive read somewhere in forum that some A780
boxes dont need them.

The scrolling problem is telling you that you have flashed the box with old or wrong firmware.

If you are having problems with the USB to serial adapter and you have set the comm port right in device manager. I suggest finding someone who as an older comp that has a 9pin serial port on it, and just use the Null modem cable, then you do not have to set any ports or anything.

thanks for your help think this is beyond me. im used to pluging in and turning on
i usually get there in the end whatever i try.dont know anybody with computer with
a null moden connection .i think theres a place in middlesbrough were i can get it flashed

If you can link the null modem between the computer and box directly
that is your best bet.

also Jodav is right, you are using old firmware

I will send you some instructions on USB convertor cable
settings when I get home from work but not sure if you need them.
(about 4.30pm)

Have you set the baud rate (bits per second) to 115200
for the com port you are using for the USB lead.

And that also matches the com port selected
in the loader program ?

I was wondering though, if you have managed to flash
old firmware, why you can't flash the newer version.

Give the USB converter a bit of a wiggle where it meets the
null modem cable as they don't give very good connections.

make sure the box is switched off at the back, hit
download in the loader then switch box back on from the back

You said you also had a box,you can also do a "box to box" flash.

there is a thread in this section somewhere telling you how to do it.

succsess thanks to all for all advice.just started from scrath again .tried switching box on and off
swore a few times. and the download started . box reading 0000 now i take it that it only needs connecting
to a network now.am i right in thinking some boxes dont need connecting to WI FI router via ethernet
or have i been reading something wrong. THANKS TO ALL YOU STOPPED ME GIVING UP .

You are best using a wired connection for the internet.

If your router is in another room from your box use some homeplugs
they are bullet proof.

Ethernet from router to Homeplug in computer room.

Ethernet from homeplug in telly room to kryptview.

Here are the ones
I use but you can buy cheaper

good stuff you are getting there, all boxes or most of them need a connection to lan to decrypt signal,no lan not much use now like the old pre nagra3 boxes.forgot to mention boxes use lan to update also.

hi again .flashed box ok took to my mates and connected.all programms seem to be installed but
encrypted ones sky etc all come up scrambled or no vidio.does this mean his n*t has no connection.
i was told its not necessary. mind i cant understand how that could work.

This means he has no internet connected (not one thats working), he must have ethernet connected to the box from his router as this is what is used to descramble the channels. This is 100% necessary.

he seems to think router is ok .hes computer is running connected to internet hes got o2 broardband ive told him it doesnt matter which hes got as long
as the box is connected to the internet. all programms are loaded the signal strengh was high 70s -80 so he must have a cable feed.hes going to keep trying
changing slots etc.

Hi peadler,

You can kill two birds with one stone here,

You need to do an S|W update if you have not already. You will find this in the installation menu. Ensure internet is plugged in.

Once download done hopefuly all will be OK. If your Internet is not working however it will just stay on the page so you will know there is a problem. if Internet is working it will say "already updated" or it will download and install the very latest firmware and box will be good to go.

jodav :)
