@Abu Baniaz tried to move the dish to 28.2e - we got channel clearing on Bloomberg but the dish wasn't moving.

It stayed on "orange" when he tried to manually move it on positioner setup to "west" I believe. As soon as he stopped, it went back to green - just a fyi.

On a side note, thanks to everyone who has helped throughout this thread. I can give the above a go tomorrow, failing that potentially new cable and a motor might be the solution/fix.
 
The instructions Manic01 has shown has to be done at motor. When you say you had bloomberg opening then dish is pointing at 28east and wont need to move.

The reference I quoted for the orange light is from troubleshooting and its not a diseq command as box is now correct. Try 16e tomoroow and put in acasa bit, ie drive to SS1, then go menu setup tuners signal finder toggle tune to user defined put in as per pic then signal will appear if you are on 16e green to scan.

While your up there doing the reset id redo or at least check the fconnectors.
 
See post 83. the viark moves the dish and I read when abu aceessed box bloomberg opened but we need to know which sat, with kingofsat bloomberg is on quite a few sats.

At least we have a green light ....
 
Ask the installer to open the motor and disconnect the daughter board from the main board, before reconnecting it.

It didn't permanently fix your motor issue though did it?

I keep having issues with my Technomate TM-2600 M2 Motor. I purchased roughly a year back from eBay in brand new condition and it went up around July time. Since December it's been problematic (thus, leading to a few threads from me). At first it kept resetting the 'zero' point, and I then had to manually reset the motor a few times.

After about 3 or 4 of times of doing that, it was stuck on the orange light and was not moving at all. I found a thread from another forum about a user who had the same issue and he rectified it by first disconnecting and then reconnecting the daughter board. This solved the issue for me and its been back up for about 4/5 weeks now.

Now its gone back to the first error, and thinks the 'zero' point is 20e. I assume I have a dodgy unit and rather than attempting to keep on fiddling with it, I would rather just buy something new.

I would say a factory reset on the motor may fix it and stay away from 42East:laughing: but if the Viark can move it and the giga cant then giga may be on its last legs. Installer should be aware to use button to move to Zero and then reset.
Getting at the daughter board is tricky and would mean taking the whole rig down, might as well get a new motor, cheaper.

I would try sending dish to zero using the Giga by going to Positioner and if the dish is on the east make line below goto say west and then press green.

Lets await the outcome.

When people are installing/touble shooting, they can sometimes get a signal lock and open a channel that is on multiple satellites. The objective and purpose of installing a channel list is to avoid such ambiguities and points of confusion. A person can select a satellite, then a channel from that orbital position. You can then select another on another satellite and make any required adjustments. You would start off with channels on a stronger transponders, then fine tune on weaker transponders.

To allay your concerns, I selected Bloomberg from 28.2. Yes, in hindsight I could have checked more channels to confirm it was indeed 28.2. Also, on Vix, Signal finder uses the ABM reader to read the SI table and confirm the satellite and channels on that transponder, but my objective was to establish whether the dish was moving or not. It didn't move, so it didn't really matter which satellite the dish was pointing at.
 
It definitely has some intermittent issues. Both boxes have had struggles moving the motor consistently; it often just gets stuck on a sat. I'm getting an installer to come and have a peak.

Intention is if required, to replace the motor, re-set up with USALS. Change all the cables and F-Connectors. That's on the basis that the physical reset doesn't solve the problem, of course.

I'll drop an update here once done and if root cause was found.
 
I had a look at the pic that shows motor up close and the cable going to motor input had black tape wrapped around it and i cant fathom out why. the cables have quite a few swirls and as for putting the cable through the hole in the stub....

a lot of these motors get stuck and the idea is to figure out a workaround all you are missing is ladders to shoot up to motor and reset it but those cables at motor end look a bit of a mess and that one with tape around it I would be curious ie cut it and re do.

are you moving dish to 16e for tonight:laughing:

are you getting the same installer?

I wonder how good is the viark for use with a motor.

First time I've seen those photos, must of missed the post.
It looks a right mess, the motor cables could of snagged on bracket bolts etc, seen that many times.
It looks more like a connection issue now.
I did ask him in pm to run a cable direct to stb from motor to rule out connection/cable issues.

Just as a FYI - nothing has been changed cables wise since the system was installed.
