How to flash Arnet Kryptview - Firmware Loading Guide / Tutorial .

hey guys ive managed to get the loader successfully but the bin file i downloaded is coming up as a VLC media file and doesn't work when i click start. im presuming somethings gone wrong with the .bin download. any ideas on whats gone wrong? thanks

i tried that but it said it didnt recognize the port. im sure the .bin file im opening should'nt be a VLC file (orange cone pic) as in this tutorial the pic just shows it as a dotted box. has anyone else had this problem :s

actually ive realised ive done a major cock up! i was using the ethernet cable and not the null modem cable when trying to start the .bin download. (i should have read the tutorial better i know!) BUT would this be the reason why it doesnt download as a bin file and says VLC as i would still be stuck!? any help would really be appreciated i just wanna watch tv!

if you have vlc the file will show as vlc like a traffic cone but it will still be a bin.file and if the file is in rar form you will need winrar

i have winrar as that was the programme i used to get the file from this site. after it downloaded i clicked on command then extract to specified folder to get it on my desktop, is that right or is there something else im supposed to do before i try and start it in the kryptview loader. i'm hoping it will work when i get the actual null modem cable

So far that all seems right but make sure your lead is a null modem.. lincast nicnacks if need be NOT maplin as theirs is not the correct type.. take it from the king of leads..!! private joke ha ha. once you got your cable the tut at the beginning will steer you through if not just holla..! help

getting a message cant open serial port com....
please check if the com has the following parameters
baudrate 115200 bps
parity : no parity
databyte 8 bit/data
stop bit :1

where am i going wrong??

yes but also with an adaptor to change 9pin into usb end.... is that where the problem is?

shouldnt i use a laptop or is it better just to use a pc?

Just like cactikid says use 9 pin to 9 pin on either a laptop or pc as long as its 9 pin you will be fine.. Have you got the loader and bin file ?

If you can't get a computer with a serial port
and need to use the USB adapter post
back and I will give you some settings.

I need to know what windows package you are
using.

Basically the USB lead transfers data at a (baud rate) or bits of 115200.
A straight null moden cable link between the box and computer transfer at a
different rate. Hence you don't need to change it.( Think it's 9600 )

In device manager, pick up the com port which the usb lead is connected to and in properties
change the setting to the above speed for that com port.

I can expand on this if you want. Just let me know.

Finally, make sure the com port setting (number)in the loader
program matches the one used by the lead on your computer.

Good luck

Bees
