Unzip and send the mgcamd1.46_arm to usr/softcam on openvix.
For openatv I think it's usr/bin but I'm not sure.
You might need to set properties to 755

What image are you using? It works for me on openvix
Im on ATV but have tried it on VIX too neither are working
you need install mgcamd first from sources once installed rename mgcamd1.46_arm to original mgcamd filename and copy it over to user\bin overwriting original file or rename origilal to something else.
I do but not sure its the right one

the cam doesn't even start.

Mgcamd 1.46 arm ipk I've made for openvix.
Tested on vu+Uno4k using vix 5.4.008
Mg_cfg file included.
Install ipk then send newcamd.list to usr/keys

You install the ipk file not extract it unless its a zipped file and if that is the case use 7-zip or similar
