This is it today. White being infections and deaths as yellow. Is it me or does anyone else see a dramatic change here. Even the die hard lockdown fans can extrapolate this..

Omicron is weak imo if this is the result. It shows a higher transmissibility with much fewer deaths. This could be a blessing. More people catch it with fewer deaths which hopefully will result in more people developing natural immunity.

I hope your opinion about Omicron being weak turns out to be right! We almost lost both our parents last new years eve despite them both shielding as they was both riddled with SARS-CoV-2 in bed both on deaths door. Mum had a mini stroke in her sleep according to the specialists at our local hospital and further down the line almost fell into a diabetic coma. Dad got rushed in to ICU by ambulance with double pneumonia on both lungs and blood clots on both lungs also. Dad battled 59 days in ICU leaving us just after valentine's on the 19th February. Dad lived on past most others who sadly lost their lives early on after first admittance. Dad even set a new record at the time as the longest surviving 59 days so I know he battled and thought furiously throughout his nightmare to try and be with us all. Ill never forget Dads final hours the most mentally scarring experience I've ever suffered and it haunts me daily/nightly/hourly and by the minute, loosing someone you know is one thing but to loose your best mate is something else, 66 is certainly no age to leave this earth!! I'll never forget Dad's final wish in the weeks that lead up to loosing me best buddy, "Son, take the vaccine!" Admittedly, I too had my own doubt's before dad fell ill regarding the whole lockdown situation and conspiracies but I still adhered to the guidelines respectfully. Dad's analysis on covid was spot on imho. Dad said to me ("Son, if you knew there was a hidden snipper out there amongst the local community taking people out 1 by 1 would you go out!?") He also said Son look at the vaccines you've had over the years.

You was given a vaccine for TB, you SURVIVED!
You was given a vaccine for Measles, you SURVIVED!
You was given a vaccine for Mumps, you SURVIVED!
You was given a vaccine for Rubella, you SURVIVED!
You was given a vaccine for Diphtheria, you SURVIVED!
You was given a vaccine for Tetnis, you SURVIVED!

He then said to me remember my mate Dave who I used to go School with, the fella who we used to see up the parade of shops!. I says yeah, he said his boy Ricky died, remember that?! I says yeah, he says thats because he was adamant his son Ricky wasnt having the Measles jab and he ultimately paid price as that little boy lost his life and he sent dave bat crap crazy and now his in a nut house poor guy, he went on further to say he never got over it. Dad then turned to me grabbed me arm as he laid on hospital bed and said I dont want to loose you Son. I've had both jabs and booster booked in January.

This doctor was a woman a leading physician in contact with numerous hospitals up in Scotland not your local GP dealing with the odd boil on the arse.

Remember this,
When Covid first landed and we went into lockdown people were queuing up at the hospital door and dropping like flies and that was well after lockdown God only knows the tally had of been hadn't we gone into lock down.

Now we're basically doing what we did before Covid arrived and death and hospital admissions are on the down and those who aren't fully jabbed are the one's that are suffering.
This proves 2 things, this variant isn't any more dangerous than any previous and vaccines are working.

Go and get jabbed stop f##kin around and making us who are protected some what potentially suffer another lockdown

Don't be concerning yourself with my vaccine status. I played the game and got vaccinated and they're threatening to lock us down again.
We were supposed to be jabbing our way to freedom, instead we are jabbing our way into more restrictions and we're not supposed to question that.

Honestly mate,

Mum and dad are soul mates,💔 both worshipped one another and loved each other to the moon and back. Mum hates Boris and is so upset with that man in the clouds up in the sky. I take some guilt and blame for not being able to save Dad. We spoke to the specialists in ICU and they put a DNR tag on him and I couldn't do F&£@# all about it mate. Spoke to them about giving dad CBD oil as read an article about a study that was trialed and prooved to be successful at fighting off Cytokline storms but the CHUFFIN docs said it was too bl00dy late!! Too late I cried, you told me first on you had it under control!! now your telling me its too late because youve basically given up on Dad who was previously fit and healthy most of his life until he broke his leg leaving him disabled on crutches about 15 years ago. But prior to that Dad was proper fit and healthy, worked out 3 times a week at the gym or on his York multi gym, went jogging down the mad mile and back 2 or 3 times a week, swimming once or twice a week and ride a bicycle around the manor. He would enjoy a bit of golf with his pals and we could go fishing together. But for them to give up on him put an injection in his leg turn off his machine and let him pass away is gut wrenching to say the least. The most EFFFED up thing about it is despite 3 or 4 or how ever many rounds of the vaccine we take, There is still - NO ANTIDOTE, NO CURE!! NOT even a Hospital full of specialists can save you.

No we are minions after all mate. We can't question what those in power have planned.

With sport and other restrictions coming in to play now and with this variant not even being deadly at all just cases going up which is bound to happen as vaccines are not gona stop infections arising we are back again to be forced into measures that shouldn't be imposed at all now.
 
On the sky news covid thread for today paul hunter of the university of east Anglia is saying we may have reached the peak. It's bounce-back Tuesday today when figures for the weekend catch up. 90,000 cases today so hopefully we may be seeing the peak.

Omicron numbers may have peaked and lockdown might not be necessary, professor says​

Paul Hunter, professor in medicine at the University of East Anglia (UEA), has said the previous rapid increase in COVID cases appeared to be slowing and that there was no need for a lockdown if that was shown to be true.

Here is one to throw in the mix,
Not sure of actual recent stats mind,
But at (or near) the beginning of this shitstorm, it was said that somewhere in the region of 80% of people with the virus were non smokers, and that someone, somewhere had done some sort of study that came back with smokers had some sort of shit already on their lungs/in their bloodstream that stopped C19 having as much effect.
Now, I could be completely wrong in all this, I have had a few beers since, but it's an interesting point as so many folks are saying , - they were fit as a fiddle before this all hit

Just putting it out there for thought,,,,,

But you wont end up in Hospital m8, vaccines lessen the blow so it might save you having a tube wacked down your neck.
Liverpool hospital icu is currently filling super fast up with
UNVACCINATED people mainly between the age of 30-40 lots are fighting for their lives.
Vaccinated people are been punished by these anti vaxxers who are filling and clogging up the NHS like I've previously said, they should be forced to pay towards the cost.


Australia are currently looking at a nose spray which you use when you have contracted Covid. This stops you passing it on which for me is a game changer
 
We don't know for sure wtf is happening with Omicron, if we're coming to the peak then great, but we don't know that and comparing our case rates to Africa is a waste of time, younger population, different climate blah blah could mean different outcomes.

Last year the government got lots of grief for acting too late when the 1st lockdown was brought in, people saying it should have been done a week earlier when we had just 100 deaths in total, if it was brought in earlier everyone would have then complained it's an over reaction there's no need for a lock down etc. and that is exactly what is happening now in this thread. We nor the government nor the scientists really know what is going to happen with omicron in the next weeks, it could pitter out but it might not. If case continue to grow at the rate they are, then it is obvious that hospitalisation and deaths will grow over the next weeks. looking at death rates today tells you SFA about how potent or not Omicron is.

The government has to do something, in my mind at the moment it's a fair one, we can all carry on doing what we like but with a few MINOR restrictions.

I do agree with someones post earlier that non vaxers should pay for treatment, there should be a charge for covid treatment, with a discount for each Jab you have, 33% discount if first jab, 66% if two jabs and 100% if buster jabbed or not yet invited for the for booster so double jabbed. It will never happen though lol
 
Right now vaccine is our only answer other than lock down but I do not see why the f##k I should be punished for those who "can't be arsed" to get jabbed or the conspiracy theorist.

We'll never know who and were Covid all started and to be quite frank, I don't give 2 flying f##ks all's I know is it's here and by the looks of it it's here to stay.
My suggestion is to all those who think it's a joke or a lie come conspiracy take them to spend they day on the ward in Liverpool

Exactly, if the vaccines are working then why are the vaccinated being put under the same restrictions as the unvaccinated? Why not lock down the unvaccinated and let the virus spread freely among the protected?

Of course there would be some deaths, as is the case with most diseases, but with the unjabbed locked up, the NHS wouldn’t be overstretched.

Locking everyone down is fuelling hatred among the vaccinated towards the unvaccinated, when we should really be venting our anger against the people who are about to lock us down again. Or does it suit the government to have us fighting amongst ourselves?

Sadly most will be happy to get a jab every few months, just for the privilege of walking into a supermarket or going out for a pint, and they’ll get used to being locked down for a few months every year for the sake of their health, as the vaccines only work in the summer months, when hardly anyone gets sick anyway.

I don't think you can blame the Gov on locking us down if the NHS Spilsby over full with unvaccinated people that's the fault of those who prefer not to be vaccinated.

We're been threatened with restrictions if bed shortages get worse so right now I solely blame the non vaccinated community.
For me all restrictions should be targeted at them and if they end up on an ICU unit with Covid they should be charged.

Let's see what all those 30-40year odds currently in the Liverpool hospital say "if" they survive about vaccination!!.

It's no point pointing the finger it's solutions we need.
Lockdown = non vaccinated people in hospital clogging icu units up.

Imagine this gets out of hand God forbid with unvaccinated and someone losses their life due to the lack of.....

I have it at the moment I think. Just waiting for test to confirm

Symptoms
1. Bit of a weezy chest
2. Can't stop coughing
3. Keep going hot and cold
4 no sense of smell or taste.
5 find it hard to stay awake
 
I drove past our local drive in test centre this morning at 8am. Normally there 2-3 cars in the queue but this morning the queue had at least 30 cars in it and it had overspilled onto the main road blocking it.

I heard a guy on the news who made sense, he said, "There's a difference between people going into hospital "with" Covid and going in "because" of Covid.

Lots are going in to A&E with say a fall or a cut too much ale etc... and with no symptoms are testing positive. Then there's those who are going in needing help because they are struggling to breath due to Covid.

But looking at those queuing up were I live it was scary how many are been tested
