Omicron

I've had covid for the past 4days and tested positive again this morning. I first tested positive 1st Jan but felt sh1t about the 28th 29th. I did test from the 28th but the 1st poss I got was on the 1st.

My problem is, I tried for days to get in for a pcr but I was in no mood to drive the 43 miles to my nearest avaliable slot.

So I ordered a pcr online and due to the holidays its come this morning. There's no point me doing it. I'm off till next week and I'm not going anywhere so it's utter pointless and I don't feel my missing statistic of 1 will make a sod of difference.

I'm glad I had my jabs as my chest feels like someone's sat on it and tired but I would say mild symtoms.
Without the vaccine? Who knows but I would guess it would be far more unpleasant.

Oh and the difference between me having it and the wife when she had it October
Me to the wife when she had Covid-
"No no don't move ill do shopping, hoovering ironing, cooking, cleaning,
How many sugars ?

Wife to me now I've got Covid-

For f""k sake !! 4 days now !!! When are you gonna take the lights down?, go the tip?, fix the toilet seat, paint wall behind tele? I'm going out Sat can you drop us all off wear a mask though !!!! we don't want that sh*t

Hope your upped your vitamins D3 and Zinc and wonder if you got Vicks Defense nasal spray would it help.
Bit early for the viagra mention cough cough.

That third booster worked well then 🤐..
There seems to be a lot of people getting the booster then getting Omicron.

They roll out the booster and look at the daily Covid cases now.. but that'll be the season at fault and everyone mixing buying Xmas present no doubt...
Last year when no one was vaccinated we never had so many contracting it. But that'll be the variant I suppose 😆🤪.

Either way I wish you a speedy recovery @loncell. I had Delta and I've had worse colds. I was worse the week following after testing negative. Fatigue was the worst part of it for me.

Let this be a lesson that regardless of how many vaccines/boosters etc you've had. You can still catch/ spread it to others which is why I despise Drs /Nurses /carers who took care of our loved ones last year who you all stood on your doorstep clapping for are being kicked out of their profession after the storm dies down in spring.

Not to forget the the despicable treatment of these amazing people who dont even get rewarded for their efforts.

Sickening how they have to go out every day in this pandemic and doing their job and are treated like sub humans by the powers that be.

There's going to be a 5-10 year tailback of missed operations and other treatments to catch up with, no one will lose their jobs, NHS are recruiting every day.
I don't recall anyone claiming the vaccines stopped anyone getting the virus.
It stops it killing you, which is probably why the government want their NHS staff to get it.
It takes 10-12 years to train new doctors/ cardiologists etc, losing even one or two for the sake of a fivers worth of vaccine isn't going to be accepted.
They won't stop being doctors/cardiologists, they'll just work for BUPA or similar if they insist they're not having it

Come on m8. I could upload non stop videos of the head of the CDC Rochelle Walensky and Fauci categorically stating it did stop transmission. I can go through these threads and quote the numerous times members have reiterated that claim. This rhetoric is what has resulted in these care workers being threatened with their jobs as if it's justified.

I agree, they won't lose their jobs because the mandate will fail like they have in every other country that brought them in and live in a democracy. They'll do a U turn with regards to Nurses and Doctors.

Although those carers that look after our parents will be short staffed and replaced with far less qualified people because of this narrative. Congrats!

Those are Americans, they don't count.
No British health officials said it would stop transmission because they didn't know.
The yanks didn't know but that's never stopped them shooting first and asking questions later

This is Professor Chris Whittys Twitter page April 28th 2021. I've quoted his actual tweet, there's several more besides, many other officials from this Country saying the same. I'll add several more tomorrow. You can debate with him if he said it or not in his own Twitter page 🤷

This type of fakenews on such a massive scale led to many turning against those that cared for them in hospitals and the hate I see even in this forum against them suggesting they deserve to be sacked and the unvaccinated should pay for treatment or should be turned away. I've argued against this from the start.

But not completely.
50% reduction.

Those are the phrases you've just quoted.

It doesn't stop people from getting it or passing it on like I said.

Whitty nor anyone else made these claims.

It cuts down on people having severe illness from the virus.

If it stops you or anyone else passing it on to 50% of people how is that supposed to be measured?

You had it and infected 5 other people, but if you hadn't been vaccinated you may have passed it onto 10 people?

Any way of measuring that?
No

💯 agree I’ve had both Pfizer jabs and Pfizer booster and got covid.
I’m awaiting pcr results don’t know if that says which variant I’ve got.
My daughter is autistic and 10 year old she has covid with no vaccine.
So just shows as you posted you can be vaccinated un vaccinated and still catch it my fear is it going all way through my house as 2 members in our house has breathing problems already

When will some people get it into their tiny heads that the vaccine is not there to stop you getting Covid it's there to lessen the blow for when you do contract it.

Who's to say I wouldn't have ended up in hospital if I didn't have it.

The vaccine is all about protecting those who are vulnerable and of an age or have unknown underlying health issues and lower hospital admissions.
The vaccine has kept alot of people out of hospital and before its said, yes hospitals are filling up now because of a few factors
No lockdown,
Christmas and winter,
Hospital staff shortage,

Can you imagine if we had of done the exact same WITHOUT a vaccine??,
Hospital beds might have less in because they'd all be f**kin dead.

I didn't have the booster to stop me contracing Covid (yawns) I had it so the symptoms are less and I don't need any help other than my couch and the remote for a week.
There is evidence that vaccinated people are contagious for a shorter period of time which is nothing but a good thing.

If your scared of needles or BIG BROTHER or you don't believe in vaccines then fill your boots. Time will eventually catch up and there'll be a time when goodwill and hope won't be enough.
My breathing was restricted but after a few days it's improved. I've seen too many older people and m8s suffer through not having the vaccine. No I didnt read that on Twitter or FB I spoke to them,

But some will say
"I bet their lying"

There's five in ours and it's not the biggest house, fingers crossed you won't all get it. Wife's survived so far and we all testing daily through work.
Good luck Baz with luck it will be like mine, very mild symtoms

my misses got covid on the 20th of December, done the LFT came back positive and then we both done a PCR test mines came back negative hers Positive...

Rules before Christmas (Scotland) - if you are a same house contact and living with someone who has covid, as long as i do lat flo tests daily and test negative i don't need to self-isolate while the person who tested positive needs to isolate for 10 days

They changed this on the 21st of December to all Household members need to Self-isolate whether negative or not if someone in the same house tests positive. What was annoying but as bad as it sounds i would of took my 1 year old Daughter and myself to my pasrentsd house to protect my 1 year old. It was a big enough struggling attempting to do LFT on a 1 year old daily. Luckily She was ok and never caught it.

I Then started showing symptoms on Christmas day. done a lat flo test and tested positive, so my Christmas consisted of Self isolation (from my misses tested positive) and then spending 2 hours of the day driving to and from a drive-in test system and getting tested. Thanks to the misses for a great xmas present haha.

So i had to start my isolation over again starting from the 25th and managed to escape yesterday. (Although in Scotland my misses could end isolation after her 10 days and didn’t need to stay in isolation with me)

We are both double vaccinated and all our symptoms were was a cold. Runny nose a little cough and a bit more tired than usual. I Still have a Cough which apparently is Long covid and can last a while, the misses is fine and running back at full steam.

I'm not sure how we would of been without the vaccination but I'm sure we got it pretty easy due to being vaccinated. I'm still in 2 minds whether i should get the booster or not and will probably only get it if it becomes mandatory to need it when flying or entering venues etc.

But the booster was put in place if you had your jabs earlier in the year as protection would have expired.

Booster is now given to anyone after 8 weeks as a booster 12 weeks if under 18. Is that correct ?

For me it has always been clear the vaccines didnt mean you couldn't catch Covid. I took them to avoid been hospitalised and to reduce the chance of my number been up.
