not sure if this was pointed at my reply. We only got our second dose of the vaccination at the end of September so i would hope we are still covered, we’ve still to receive the letter or text saying we can now get our booster but as mentioned above still in 2 minds about going for it.


I'm all for the vaccinations and boosters and believe in the medical research and science behind it all. I Know they aren’t going to stop you from getting covid but to ease the symptoms and stop them being more severe. Like i said if it becomes mandatory to have the booster to go on holiday or enter venues then i will 100% go for it but right now i don't want to be injected with anything else especially if these boosters become a regular thing.

That's the thing though - nobody can say how you would have been. I know a man with copd, 30% lung capacity. When covid first arrived we were sure he'd be a goner if he caught it. He did catch it, before the vaccines were available, and it was nothing more than a mild illness for him.
 
personally I've been vaccinated as I believe they are for the good, but as has been said, if I ever get Covid and it's mild we will never know if the mild syptoms are because I've been vaccinated to the hilt or because my natural immune system could cope with it better, but I prefer to take note of what the medical proffession are telling me and be safe. As I have been vaccinated I've been able to go on 3 overseas holidays in the past year without any issues, if I have been pinged/emailed/texted that I have been in close contact with someone with Covid I don't have to Issolate.

I did find it funny though when I got a text earlier this week, after returning from Malta at the weekend, saying I had been in close contact, I was advised by the NHS that there is no need to self issolate but I should do a LFT daily for a week, but there are no LFT's available so I can't even do that.

I suspect we will follow Israel and be offered a 4th Jab soon if cases don't start to drop, I will have it if that's the case just so I can carry on living my life and not WASTEas much NHS time if I do become ill with Covid.

Agreed! You've finally admitted it. You can stop calling for Nurses and Doctors to be fired then now?
Stop making out it's entirely the fault of the unvaccinated that we get locked down?

The vaccine manufacturers have been saying it from the start, and officials have been relaying it from the start too. It's what started this "them and us" hate between the vaccinated and unvaccinated. It's what gave people a right to call for Drs/Nurses/carers jobs.
It's what's been used to push vaccine passports. If there's no difference between the two then there's no need for any of these measures.

I hear there is another variant in the wings.

Wonder how many more "variants" we will see and how many more jabs and boosters they will keep telling people they need to save lives etc etc.

The whole covid pandemic and everything surrounding it sadly will be at the front and centre over anything else for a very long time.

Yep keeping the masses under their thumb and keep instilling fear into them with one or another new "variant" always being found.

Easy enough to then make people believe there need the 100th jab or booster to save them.

The chief medical officer hasn't mentioned a new variant. The media have. I follow info from Virologists not media outlets. For eg. Read her bio.

As for anything else I've stated it's an opinion like all you have had. No one is pretending to be an expert. But it's easy to suggest that if you don't agree with differing opinions. Rather than call people armchair experts, pick at something that was said you think is incorrect and debate it.

I have on numerous occassions when you quoted out of date stats in your arguement. Virologists do know about the different variants, I agree, I've not seen any reports of a 'new variant' so can't argue that, but Virologists are not the ones that have to care for the sick or see who is being hit most in various area's/countries on the ground. I personally take more notice of the info provided by a Dr working in a local hospital than someone on the internet who says he's an expert which I can't verify that he is or is not.

I could start a blog or twitter account and claim to be a Virologists and make it look genuine by starting off with some copy and paste from genuine sources and then gradually make my own thoughts like facts (not saying this is what the guy you quoted is doing but I don't know). I could not just walk onto a hospital ward and say I am a doctor, I would need to prove my qualifications
 
As to people walking into hospitals and claiming to be doctors ,there have been incidents on many occasions of this happening ,with drastic results.

I would for that specific hospital. I wouldn't take notice of a doctor regarding stats across the country. That's what statisticians are paid to do. Which is why I follow the head of health at ONS on Twitter who regularly calls out the media for their bs fear mongering articles. He's verified so clearly not a made up account same as the others I follow.

Said it before, take notice of the media or cut through the bs and go straight to the source. Those that take notice of the media obviously won't agree with me and some take offense and their only recourse is to call people anti vaxxers/conspiracy theorists/armchair experts etc to try shut that opinion down.

They were the only stats at hand because they were further back in this thread and I posted the new ones and there were no different to the previous 🤷.

Exactly and there are far more 'experts' online, not just science/medicine, and they seem to be growing in beleivers.

Yet the one you opted to post above 'Chise' who is a 'Senior Scientist' according to his bio but not verified and could be anyone. I don't disagree with the info he posted in the screenshot above nor some of his recent posts which is basically info that is general knowledge, we all know omicron is not as deadly, but I can't verify he is a Senior scientist so he could well be an armchair scientist.

We didn't get locked down?

I said IF we get locked down for 5% of people filling hospitals because of Covid then as above.. There was zero reason for a lockdown and it didn't happen..
