Openwebif asking for password

Having a mare, tried flashing my box with pure2 but when adding script openwebif asked for password? It's the same with putty!
Please help. Thanks.

Try Pure2, possibly all lower case if that doesn't work

EDIT: the ftp user is root and the password is pure2 (I'm assuming the same for openwebif)

Thanks very much, that worked. Do you need to know passwords then for when you flash your box with a new image say? Sorry im new to all this.

RESETTING ROOT PASSWORD

Password file is located here:

/etc/passwd

If you open the passwd file with notepad++ you have to edit the line that begins 'root'
You can also edit this on the receiver using DreamExplorer.

It should looks something like this:

root:x:0:0:root:/home/root:/bin/sh

Delete the 'x' after 'root' on the first line. It's important to leave the colons.
Save and reboot the box and the password will be reset (blank, null, nothing, no password)
