our so called big players let us down miserably last night,Mcgeady once again showed his skills are limited to the scottish premier,Kevin Doyle huffed and puffed,but could never blow the Italian defence down,Keane was throwing his rattles out of his pram from a very early stage,blaming other players for not producing the passes when he was clearly making the wrong decisions in his positioning, shay given should never have been beaten at his near post (no keeper should!).
on the plus side, Whelan played his heart out and scored a great goal,Lawrence ran himself into the ground ala john aldridge style,Best threw himself into the fray, upsetting the Italians rhythm with his no nonsense tough tackling and spirit.
Hunt when brought on showed why he should start every game, same energy,enthusiasm and commitment as shown previously by Ray Houghton.Richard Dunne and John o`Shea were the rock that the italians floundered on for long spells.
Robbie Keane! Stop your ballet dancing!!"side step, side step, pirouette, fall" Does not cut it in international football!
Time to take the armband off this muppet and give it to Richard Dunne.
Was Great to see Croke park rocking last night - 1000`s of the "real fans" came out to roar on the boys in green and their was barely a D4 suit in sight!
Fantastic atmosphere, very loud vocal support throughout the game, magnificent stadium that would grace any country,impeccably behaved fans from both sides.
Only the result sucked!
Can`t wait for the play-off, don`t care who we get, HEY we just drew with the world champions!(or more to the point, they drew with us) Ireland will not be scared of anyone but more than a few will be scared of us, :fight:bring it on!
oh! and Noely iwholeheartedly agree with you mate, andy reid not being included in the squad is a mortal sin, his vision and passing would have kept the Italians on their toes, this game cried out for him.

Agree totally lads. I always think you should have your captain at the back where he can see the whole game and where everyone is, not someone who plays the majority of the game alone, up front where he plays the majority of the match with his back to the rest of the pitch and so can't see play!
