Broadband Retentions leaving Virgin question - Price increase

Thanks for the info i know the customer service is poor and i believe they were voted the worst broadband provider for customer service but i want full fibre and they are the only provider that can supply it in my area

I managed to get 264 Mbps for £23.00 as my contract was coming to an end. I'll keep an eye out for better deals over the next few weeks as I should be able to cancel within 14 days
Following from this deal

I have a family member living at the same house that has just got an 02 contract

How do I add this to volt and will this affect any discounts if I do?

From O2 volts benefits FAQ

"..Or, if there’s already at least one person in your household with an eligible O2 plan and you have Virgin Media broadband registered at the same address, you can get Volt benefits.

Once you’re with both Virgin Media and O2, you can check your eligibility and activate your Volt benefits in My O2 or My Virgin Media..."

Just managed to get 1 Gig for £24 although it does go up £4 in April, doing the usual request to leave and waiting for retentions to call back. Was on 500 for £32.

But we get a good deal off smarty mobile. Me,Mrs and oldest lad.

.unlimited texts
.unlimited calls
.6 gig of data

The above is each only £15 a month not gone up in years. That's for all of us.

There is a deal with virgin today for new members via uswitch 500mb connection @ £18.99 per month until april 2027 then £22.99 for the next year and volt available for those with 02 up to 1000mb.
I've ordered it with the router to be delivered 20th march just a week or so before my plusnet contract runs out.

You ever been with Virgin mate, or was it not available on your street or something ?

I dont think id go back to Virgin, im fine with youfibre and to top it off ive done so many referals to youfibre ive earnt a tidy some.

Never had a issue with virgin been with them probably 6 years. Don't think I would bother with volt paying £33 a month for 1.2 gig downloads

Yes mate i have been with virgin for a long time prior to plusnet and it was fine. It was a new install for project lightening. Youfibre has come half way up our street where the older houses have telephone poles outside their houses but then our newer houses have cables underground. Youfibre don't want to run the cables in our street underground. Just been with plusnet for a year and we preferred virgin.

Hi Guys , I have just struck a deal with Virgin £22.99 500 mbps 24 months no price increase at all , i am leaving youfibre 500mbps March 3rd was payining £19.58 but for a renewal could only get 200mbps at £24.99 no movement from them or any deal through there sales team .

Just a heads up with Virgin (I was with them for years as they were the only super fast provider in my area), although the download speed was good, I had high ping rates and there were lots of IP blocks, especially around 3pm on a Saturday! Had to use a VPN most of the time to get around them.

It also massively slowed down in the evenings when everyone jumped online too!

Since moving to a Cityfibre provider, ping rates are now around 4 or 5ms and I've never needed to use a VPN to get around any IP blocks, everything just works.

It might be different in your area but just thought I'd mention it.

I pay about £30 per month but sometimes cheaper isn't best, I'd rather pay a few quid more for a much better service!

There is a deal through Martin Lewis website for Toob(city fibre)for 900mb for £23 a month 18 month contract.
Not sure if it’s available in your area though.

More than happy with virgin media 1gig, I'm avoiding some of the city fibre connections as I have many sites that have PPTP VPN's set up on them and some of the guys I work with can't connect after they have changed to full fibre. It's on my list of jobs to work out why.
