Because many providers use CGNAT, you just need to find one that offers dynamic or static ip.

Some providers will sell you a static ipv4 for £5 - £10 a month ontop of the normal monthly cost as an addon.

Some simply are not able to provide a static ip or dynamic ip.

Some only do dynamic but that should be fine with vpn's (sky for example use dynamic, I think maybe talktalk do too).

My isp includes static ipv4 at no extra cost, provides ipv6 (many don't) and is rolling 30 day contract on CF.

Thank you, we have the same issue using mobile hotspot so maybe mobile carriers use CGNAT. We are switching everything over to our open VPN server but there is a shortage of the INSYS MRX routers and our SCADA wont support any other router.

I think most mobile carriers use CGNAT
 
PPTP also uses GRE port 47 which a lot of newer or ISP supplied routers don't support.

PPTP is really old and insecure though so I would prioritise moving your VPN's over to either OpenVPN or Wireguard for wider support and security.

We are in the process, we only have about 10 sites left on PPTP, the rest are on open VPN.
 
Got my renewal at £27 gigabit plus Netflix. Asked could I get it cheaper without Netflix but works out cheaper to get it with Netflix, really pushing that bundle. Virgins router is the source of their issue. Get your own mesh/ router and haven't had a complaint since

Yeah virgin are strange and you would think the more products in the bundle it would be a greater price 🫣🫣🫣 used to be same with broadband and landline deal until they starting doing broadband only deals.
 
Any one explain what hubs do you get these days from virgin, both my in-laws mentioned digital SIM slots ,

Ai doesn't mention anything other than hub 3,4,5,5x. No mention of a SIM slot or 5g routers.

Engineer came out to one of them and said just checking your speed and apparently he took out the SIM card to check the speed... Bizarre

Next door but one to me has the hub 5x but not sure if it has a back up sim slot on it like some broadband hub's have. He went onto the gig1 package and was told the old hub 3 he had couldnt handle the gig1 package etc.
 
Ive the hub 5, but since they've joined with o2 I think they are doing a 5g backhaul if your fibre ever went down. Can't say I've ever been offered it though
 
They swapped me over to the Hub 5 when I upgraded to the 1gig.

If you can get Virgin why not try out GiffGaff uses same line in no long contracts can swap out speeds every month
and eero mesh routers, i got it three weeks ago its really great up till now
 
Was just reading a deal on hot deals UK , and saw a post about VM acquisition of YouFibre. **** me looked it up it's real. Can't get away from these twats

Yeh i've heard about this for a while. We now have virgin with 1gb connection but volted from 500mb @ £18.99 for the first year then £22.99 2nd year.
