Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned by the Government and his assets - including Chelsea Football Club - have been frozen.

A new license will ensure the club can fulfill its fixtures, staff and players can be paid and that it can continue.

The sale of the club is now on hold.

Season ticket holders can still attend games they have tickets for but club cannot now sell any more tickets that haven’t been sold already

Merchandise shop will be closed
This is what Chelsea are allowed to do:

1. Pay the wages, allowances and pensions of all employees of the Club
2. Pay fees, dividends or other allowances to directors of the Club, which are payable under obligations which pre-date the licence. Remuneration, such as any fees, dividends, allowances or other payments to the DP or for the DP’s benefit are prohibited
3. Continue the payment necessary for the ongoing regular maintenance of the Club and the Club’s grounds, including rates, council tax, other taxes, insurance building safety inspection costs, energy costs and other maintenance costs associated with the maintenance of the Club’s ground and training grounds, but excluding new capital works or refurbishments
4. Pay reasonable costs of travel to and from fixtures by any of the Club’s teams for players and essential staff including costs for security staff, travel agencies or contractors. These costs may include travel, accommodation and subsistence costs, but may not exceed £20,000 per game, per Club team
5. Make payments for goods and services necessary for the hosting of fixtures held at the Club’s grounds, including security, stewarding, emergency services and catering, not exceeding the value of £500,000 per fixture per Club team
6. Continue to make inter-club payments to discharge obligations which existed prior to the designation under player loan and sale agreements

Persons who purchased tickets prior to 10 March 2022, including season-tickets purchased before that date, are permitted to attend fixtures and purchase refreshments at fixtures.

Where persons pay for season tickets in regular instalments, those persons who entered into a payment plan before this date can continue to make payments.

Broadcasters may broadcast fixtures involving the Club, and the Club may still receive payments associated with broadcasting, including payment of broadcasting licence fees due to the Club.

Relevant bodies, including the English Football Association, the Premier League and the Union of European Football Associations may still pay the Club fees relating to their performance in competitions hosted by those bodies.

The players won’t be paid direct, they’ll be paid through companies so I wonder if that’s allowed as it’ll be down as a service not a wage payment

People can say it should’ve been done earlier but he was the one who changed English football besides will give all these w@nk owners to actually try and invest in decent players for a change if they will actually part with money on players who wants to play for the team and not the money 👀👀👀

Chelsea will be going downhill it seems.

Big players for sure will be sold in the summer.
Not sure they can sell players there’s a transfer ban. But if they are paid via companies and not directly on the payroll it might make them difficult to pay. They’d have to go Paye and get nobbed 50% tax 😂 or not get paid and the players companies get contracts torn up on that basis and leave on a free. Doesn’t look good either way unless Roman can find a buyer and get a special license to sell the club.

Sanctioned oligarchs

  1. Roman Abramovich has stakes in steel giant Evraz, Norilsk Nickel and owns Chelsea FC. He sold a 73% stake in Russian oil firm Sibneft to state-owned gas titan Gazprom for £9.87 billion in 2005. His net worth is an estimated £9.4 billion. He is one of the few oligarchs from the 1990s to maintain prominence under Putin. None of our allies have yet sanctioned Abramovich.
  2. Oleg Deripaska has stakes in En+ Group, a major extractives and energy company which owns UC Rusal, one of the world’s major aluminium producers. He has a multi-million pound property portfolio in the UK. His net worth is an estimated £2 billion. The US designated Deripaska in 2018.
  3. Igor Sechin is the Chief Executive of Rosneft, a Russian state oil company and particularly close and influential ally of Putin. Sechin has been sanctioned by the US and EU.
  4. Andrey Kostin is Chairman of VTB bank, the second largest bank in Russia. VTB Bank was designated by the UK on 24 February 2022. Kostin is a close associate of Putin, and has long supported Kremlin objectives through VTB Bank. His net worth is an estimated £379 million. Kostin has been sanctioned by the US and EU.
  5. Alexei Miller is CEO of energy company Gazprom, making him one of the most important executives supporting the Russian Government. Miller served under Putin in the 1990s when Putin was deputy mayor in St Petersburg. Miller has been sanctioned by the US.
  6. Nikolai Tokarev is president of the Russia state-owned pipeline company Transneft. He first met Putin, when both served as KGB officers in Dresden in East Germany in the 1980s. They have remained closely associated ever since. Tokarev has been sanctioned by the US and EU.
  7. Dmitri Lebedev is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank Rossiya. The UK designated Bank Rossiya, widely considered to be the Kremlin’s private bank, on 22 February 2022. Lebedev was sanctioned by the US in 2016

Abromovich till recently had shares in the steel company that supplies the tank manufacturers. Been buddies with Putin no sympathy for him at all.
To add to that his companies in Israel which he has funded have displaced Palestinians from their home.

What goes around comes around. Applies to everyone.

Once his lawyers get involved they will steam roll the sanctions placed on him. He will get the best legal team money can buy and get it thrown out of court you watch.
