Samsung M51 not charging HELP NEEDED

Just this minute got a reply from the place I sent my phone to. They've quoted me £100 to fix which was far far better than the £225 Samsung quoted. I'm gonna get it done but still look for a new one (other thread) and keep the M51 as a spare.

My phones back and up and running, thank God,

just a quickie (save me opening another thread) whats the best way to "try" and recover a few pictures from the internal storage ?. I thought I'd saved them to sd card before I factory reset it but I mustn't have selected all the media files. I've just conntected to the computer with easeUS data recovery but I can't see were to point the app to my phone. Anyone got any software handy I can use ?

PHOTOREC
I've used it loads of times on Linux OS , but I think it's also available for Windows.
IMPORTANT : do NOT do anything on your phone until you try to recover the data. Anything you do or download could overwrite where the data has been deleted(hidden) to.

I kicked it up but but it only see's my windows HD it doesn't pickup the phones storage location
Have you connected your phone with a usb, and does windows see your phone,?
I assume you have scanned for network drives, or whatever it's called.
Make sure it's not set to just charge.
The only thing I can think is that your new usb/charging port may not allow data transfer

Well I'm not having much luck, the phone stopped charging again so it's gone back to the guy who repaired it. I'm using original charger/cable that came with it and it works fine on other phones. I tried it when I got back and it started to charge but because it was on 80% I'd no need to charge it up. When it dropped to 3% I plugged it in and thats when it stopped charging again

Right guys I've a really weird one going on here with my phone.
Stopped charging,
Sent off for repair issue fixed,
Phone was returned to me, day later did it again.

So I sent it back as its under a 30 day warranty for the same fault repaired. yesterday I gets an email and picture of my phone from the repair company showing my phone charging. I asked what the issue was they said they don't know, they took it out the box and tried it on their charger and it worked so they never opened it.

When it arrived back to me and went faulty for the 2nd time I tried 3 different genuine Samsung chargers and cables (like I did the first time round) all of which work fine on my sons and wife's phones anmd at first it worked fine no problems so I thought it's sorted. I took it off charge straight away as it was full. After a few days I went to charge it when it was low and it wouldn't charge, infact, It wouldn't even connect to the PC so I factory reset it again and it was still the same. There was no way on this planet it was charging for me not a cat in hell's chance. The repair guys initial diagnostics report 1st time round was:

"There looks to be damage to some parts as though it's been dropped at some point so we've repaired them", it's never been dropped in my care so I'm not sure what that means.

So I gave up when I got it back from the first repair but that was after about an hour of trying, I even tried cleaning the charger port slot out before I decided to send it back. Would anyone know why explain to me why the phone is randomly charging for me but worked first time for them ?. I know 100% there was an issue 1st time round and then when I got it back regardless of them saying it works fine or do you think they opened it and did something 2nd time round re-soldered or something but it was easier for them to say "No nothing wrong it works fine" so they don't need to part refund. I just feel I'm having the £100 wool pulled here and I cant keep mailing it back and forth £6 a time

Possibly the Samsung plugs you are using are possibly too high in wattage or not enough power.
Have you tried charging it from a USB port on the tv also try a cheap charger cable for your phone £1 from one below.

It is a strange one for sure bud as it’s same with most devices for example my sons iPad stops charging after an hour on an Amazon lightening cable with genuine apple plug but if I put my genuine apple lightening cable on it fully charges 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I tried everything Baz, older charger the white Samsung ones changed leads galore, from PC a wall usb the lot + loads of cables and gen ones as well. I've always used the charger and cable that came with it from new, boxed sealed. Because it's a foreign Samsung it came with the 2 prong plug so I've used the 13a plug were you unscrew the top and fused and I've tried the straight shaver adapter both didn't work. The same adapter works on the wife's A70 and my sons with no problems so I cannot see it been plugs and chargers. It's as though when I charge it something trips inside the phone then like magic it works for them or their pulling my p*sser so they don't have to part refund. I don't mind paying £20-£30 for them working on the phone no one works for nothing but not £100 if it's not gonna hold out for more than a day

I just wonder if you are letting your battery go too low. "I went to charge it when it was low and it wouldn't charge," I wonder if the charger is not seeing that there is a battery to charge.
With some our plant equipment that we work on the machines are 24v some chargers need to see above 15v for the charger to turn on. Lots of customers let the batteries go down to only 1 or 2 volts so we have to use 12v car chargers or special lithium chargers to get the voltage up. the original charger can then see the batteries.

++ah just remembered that you changed the battery earlier in the thread++

I didn't actually change the battery, I bought one from a decent company Replace Base | The Replacement Part Specialists

but I never installed it I thought best not p#ss around with it I'll let them tell me it's the battery first.

I did hot swap the battery though before I sent it off. I took the back off, sat the new battery on top of the disconnected original battery (still glued in) and connected it up but it still didn't charge so I left the original one in place.

i dont know tbh, I can only wait for it to be delivered back and try it again but, if it doesn't charge again then I will send them videos and ask for a part refund.

like i said, I don't mind paying for the attempted fix, fair do's but if it fails again?.

So I'm sat down wondering why tf it's randomly stopping charging for me but works for them ?. Then I got thinking, could it be a possible app/software/firmware issue ? or even a battery problem? which if a battery issue would be randomly hard to check on ?.
They've had it for 3 days charging and checking it just to make sure so fair play to them. I got an email late on last night saying they tried it a dozen times over the 3 days, rebooting and charging without a problem.
So this got me thinking about apps and FW as both times I've sent it them it's been factory reset. I don't use any cleaner optimiser apps just the usual.

I don't know if I'm clutching at straws but anyway, I've ordered a new charger from Samsung for £8:50 and I've a few very good quality cables just so I'm doubly sure it's not that.

When you get it back I would try without installing any apps or running a backup from your phone just to see if it does it again.
If it didn’t then start by installing an app (or couple) at a time and if starts to do it again then would suggest some bug in the apps your installing was the phone upto date with software updates and security patches
Would be interesting to see if there using genuine charger for that phone or a different one

As above, if it's going to them in a 'factory reset' condition and it's charging ok then it's highly likely to be something you're installing that's causing the issue.
On a related note my screen keeps freezing and won't unlock sometimes, this only started since updating it a month ago.
I've run various cleaners and updates and it's a lot better but for a while I assumed it was finished as it wasn't accepting my unlock code and I couldn't open it, or if I did open it the screen would freeze within a few seconds

Probably the time has come to revert to your other Thread! Time to buy another phone!

My old xiaomi used to do that now and again, mostly on this site! But my new one still does it on the odd time, I usually press the square sign at the bottom and toggle back to clear

Just had to edit last post,
It's an app or firmware issue. I flattened it again this morning and it's charging.

I'll have to install apps one at a time rather than through a back up and check which ones causing the problem. There all from Playstore bar two.

I'm gonna install one at a time, there all the usual sh*te BBC Sport , Livescore, Bet365, Fire TV no games or cleaners. I did have CCcleaner but I took that off ages ago.. The only 2 I can think of was a tiktok cracked version and STBEMU other than that most were bog standard PlayStore apps and no games, another thing, do you reckon a dodgy sim or SD card could cause an problem ?.
