What box should i purchase?

You'll have to get a twin tuner sat box if you want to record one channel whilst watching another.Unless the channels are on the same transponder(which is unlikely). You can record with the F5 via usb port,but only what the box is showing.

can you set a program to record in the future with them boxes? or just record whats currently on another channel

probably a stupid question: would the VU solo 2 or VU duo work just like a skybox F5s (all the same channels)
but with the ability to watch one programme and record another programme like sky.

Basically the split is similar to this,
£50 - £60 skybox F3,F5 add an "s" if you want, HD box, now and next EPG.
Add a HDD and capable of recording. Sets like the old videos, Time, date, channel, duration etc.
£150 ish Blade, VU solo, for example, as above with 7 Day EPG, easier to set timer recording
one button timer recording,if you add a HDD.
£300 ish VU solo 2, VU duo, as above, twin tuner allows one program to be recorded while watching another,
if you add a HDD.Plus bells and whistles.
Seen Ibox for £90 which is basically a VU solo clone, from what I can gather, also blade supposed to be bringing out
a box for approx £80, but haven't seen the spec. Guessing these are basically going to undercut the £150 boxes, and give you a 7 day EPG.
There are plenty of other boxes out too, but the ones mentioned seem to be pretty popular.

Hi just wondered if anyone can tell me about the cloud I box 2. Are these boxes as good as the skybox f5s and are they easy to add your cline and channel list etc

Have you installed the emulator? If not, install it. then u must also send over CCcam.cfg to /etc/ after that Press Blue Button, Softcam Manager
Start the cam, it will then show up in active list also enable startup, a tick will then appear next to the name

while watching one in the living room down stairs.
You can move the HDD between boxes as you need it.
What you will need is a server who allows multiroom, so you only pay
for one line for both boxes.
You will need a coax to the second box from the dish.
Also you can use homeplugs to run your internet feed from your router
to the second box.
