Ive being asked to setup a h2 for cable access but have never done one before.

can anyone recommend a good guide to follow please?

Have you set one up on the sat side before or is this your first box ?

Generally it will be similar to the sat guides but your tuner will be set to DVB-C (for cable) and you
will need your net id to scan for channels.

The back up images on the site come with the cams preloaded
and the newcamd.list file and skins.

So basically just load your line in and do a search for channels

You could request a cable line here

Cable lines are more expensive than sat lines

The cable side needs you to put in the net id for your area, there is a list here

cable netids

Then activate the cam

So it will be very similar.

The only real difference is scanning for channels where you
will need your area net id and set the provider to VM instead of Sky

Just try one close by, you should get approx 320 channels on cable.

If you use the wrong one you will just get less channels or even none
but it won't do any harm.

If you post your area somebody may be able to give you your net id

Teeside NTL 00010 571.000 6.887 ?

So it becomes

Net id 00010
Frequency (571.000 Not Required to search for channels)
Symbol Rate 6887 (no decimal point required)

or

Washngton Tyne+Wear NTL 41054 666.750 6.887 ?

Just try a few close by

Openvix and openATV are the most popular images for E2 receivers. If your after a back up image look in the downloads section

Guys on the subject of cable lines is it possible to input line in to extend box via usb or does it have to be ftp via fillzilla a mate of mine is getting a box from wos but has no pc thanks in advance guys

Your best asking wooshman about that I'm sure he uses a USB to load lines into receiver. Or you could use a app on android or iPhone called FTP client pro I think it's £3 and works great as long as the files are already loaded into the receiver (back up image) then you can manually edit them quite easy on your phone

Dangerous , thanks for the quick reply have some idea what he needs to do now cheers lol...

Best using PC, can't you not borrow a laptop or take the receiver to someone who has a sky feed and laptop?
