Tbh I think @StrawDog has been doing Alot of research on this topic I don't believe half what has been posted but there could always be a time where it bites us in the arse especially where the media is concerned they post crap to make numbers up but I did laugh at that takeaway guy in China throwing food to people

The media are making numbers up and he’s posting them. He’s posting articles to suit his agenda.

Imagine being his family member, you’d be absolutely terrified.

I can understand where he is coming from. As he seems genuinely concerned and why wouldn't you be with such a virus out there.

But I don't like figures being spouted as facts which are clearly not true.

Lets be honest media is poisonous to spread fake news and lies half the time just for ratings.

I get that mate 1000% I'm not taking sides or anything but if it is scaremongering wrong way to go about it. little by little things gets added each time and just imagine all the people we may need to live in a yellow submarine lol

Scaremongering is dangerous in itself mate.

As I posted before, take all the precautions necessary, keep up with the facts etc but don’t go down and raid the shelves for 40 tins of corned beef quite yet which is what he was spreading.

They say in China they eat everything from cats, dogs and who knows what else. Whether that is true who knows.

Think may be best to go vegetarian as doubt potatoes or tomatoes etc will not contain the virus.

Everyone might want to give @StrawDog a bit of slack.
He's had/has PTSD and is reporting stuff that appears on the 24h news channels etc.
If people don't like it or think it's far fetched then walk on by, there's been a fair bit of abuse in this thread by various posters and it's not needed.
People turning up and saying GTFO and casting aspersions left right and centre for no reason serves no purpose.
The thread can be igniored by anyone.
As far as 'creating panic' and 'scaremongering' is concerned, a bigger pile of shit I have never heard - all the stuff in this thread is available 24 hours a day on every news channel and newspaper so half a dozen readers of an Internet forum is going to make zero difference compared to millions of daily viewers/readers of those channels/papers.

The fact is, and this is the ONLY fact concerning this virus, no one knows what is going to happen. No one KNOWS whether the final death toll will be thousands , millions or billions-it could wipe out 10,000 or 10 million, nobody knows.
In 1666 the mayor of London was informed of the beginning of an early morning fire in Pudding Lane, he famously waved it off with the remark 'a woman could piss it out'. The following morning he woke up with his knackers on fire to find that 70,000 Londoners had watched their homes disappear along with 87 churches and St Pauls cathedral - aside from a severely singed scrotum and 70, 000 people to rehome he had no job because there was no city left to be mayor of.
Moral is, no one knows, I don't know, you don't know, world health organisation don't know, everyone's guessing so let's all have a minute to think please before coming out with pseudo intellectual claptrap

Well said its facts what's been posted by @StrawDog 3 Juventus players has just tested positive for it aswell personally I don't see it as scaremongering just a general cause for concern and only a fair few of us know of straw dog and struggles he has to put up with on a daily basis

I have to say I think mentioning people’s personal problems is really unfair. As you say this is an Internet forum, none of us know each others personal problems and there could be people on here having an absolute torrid time in life. I just can’t see how that has any bearing on debating a topic.

You kind of answered what I’ve been saying. No one knows what’s going to happen so let’s keep it balanced both ways, there’s absolutely no need to be pushing a narrative that it will wipe out millions but you shouldn’t be saying it’s just going to pass with no issue either because no one knows how this thing is going to play out.

Back to strawdogs personal issues, I hope he gets the help he needs as PTSD is absolutely awful.

I mentioned his condition because he made a thread on this forum about it not long ago so it's fairly well known, so it's not unfair.
It is unfair to say things like "I'd hate to be a member of his family" and such likes.
This serves no purpose at all

Coronavirus: death toll passes 3,000 worldwide as second person dies in US
South Korea reports 500 new cases and Indonesia confirms its first infections as WHO urges nations to stock up on ventilators

Latest coronavirus updates
The global death toll from the coronavirus outbreak exceeded 3,000 on Monday as South Korea reported almost 500 new cases of the disease and a second person died in the US.

Covid-19 has now infected more than 88,000 people and spread to more than 60 countries after first emerging in China late last year. Indonesia, which has so far claimed to be virus-free, registered its first two cases on Monday.

Coronavirus latest updates: Indonesia reports first case as second person dies in US
More than two months on, most new cases and deaths are still confined to China, whose health commission reported 202 new infections on Monday – the lowest daily rise since late January – and 42 new deaths. Hubei province, where the outbreak has been concentrated, recorded 196 of the 202 new cases and all of the new deaths.that's a media report from today lol

We should just post facts from well known sources. Here's the New York Times global map on it today:

Coronavirus Map: Tracking the Spread of the Outbreak
I see So it's facts only? - no one is allowed to have an opinion or speculate what may or may not happen for fear of being labelled a scaremongerer?
It is unfair as it's not relevant to this thread. If it was he would have mentioned it himself.
It is relevant to every thread when people are posting vitriolic remarks for no reason other than point scoring

Sorry, I have no issue with @StrawDog but this is as you say a public forum, it doesn't matter who starts it or what is going on with them off of the forum, they are going to get people disagreeing with them, that is the nature of a forum. To then bring out a 'disability' card is wrong, I am disabled, but I would never use that in defence of something I have written and I am sure that is why @StrawDog hasn't mentioned it on this thread. It is not up to you or anyone else to post about someone elses personal situation on such a forum and that was wrong of YOU. There are a few members on here that have met me, if one of them mentioned my disability (albeit try to defend me) I would not be impressed.

Admin will decide if and when a thread has reached it's boundaries and take action if required at that point.
Strawdog has posted documented articles from different sources the same as other members so i see no issue at present.
He made all members aware of his personal situation some time back which got a good airing and therefore i would assume he has no issues with this being restated.
This Forum is here for learning and an exchange of information !
I'm sure you don't want us policing every member's point of view that is either an individual opinion or non technical issues ?
Stick to published facts and your own point of view and don't get personal.
Life can be pretty damn boring without some healthy exchange in my opinion !

You are not a moderator but are constantly rebuking members for posting remarks in threads out of context. @StrawDog may have wanted to discuss his disability in the context of a different thread, but I was unaware of it until now.
The only reason I can see why you would mention it is to get
sympathy for his point of view in this thread.

I have disabled friends and all are very independent.

@grog68 has given you the very reason why he would not mention it himself in defence of his point of view - independence.
Looks like @StrawDog has won this argument anyway, using
documented
facts. Well done him 👍

My last reply on this but I couldn’t agree less, you shouldn’t be bringing up peoples personal illnesses to make a point. I’m sure there’s plenty of people on this thread who have health issues, should I bring mine up, would that help my argument?

Re the last part it was obviously said in jest but you didn’t quote my whole post because it doesn’t suit your narrative. The point was about striking fear in people.
