Sky TV Drops Satellite Dish With New Sky Glass

Literally was just reading this. Now you can rent a TV from Sky for over a grand a year! But hey it’s carbon free lol!

Ye lol.

What a horrendous looking tv.

Iptv is where sky is heading for in the future. No dish required could see years down the line.

Exactly this it would save them a fortune in transponder fees. Pound to a penny though we dont see a decrease in price.

What’s funny is no box required. So I take it they will have some form of Sky Go on it for the premium channels. Sky Go currently streams at 720P and I think at 25FPS at that too. So your lovely 4K QLED Sky Glass 65” that you rent for over a grand a year gets you glorious TV at 720P lol.

Your not renting the tv, your paying for it on the never never, after 24 / 48 months you own that (when the warranty has expired).

It's just an extra you can add to the cost of the sky sub.

My bad, thought everything from Sky was rented and at the end of you contract needed returning. Absolute rip-off still.

Want this with the Sky Sports package on the never never over 48 Months. This TV will cost you just short of 4 Grand. That’s without your internet that you’ll need to run it. That’s just for the 43” probably looking at 5/6 Grand for the 65”….

That price is for the sky sub and the 43" tv, after the tv is paid for (in 4 years), the £13 would be deducted from that in theory (truth is by then the price will have gone up £20 a month for the sky package so you will end up paying more).

It's all a con actually making you think you are getting more for the money you will pay them for this new type of service.

When in reality you will still be getting ripped of by them like on the current service.

Yeah I get your point mate. Looking at it that way it’s not crazy but you’re buying well and truly into the Sky Eco System with this TV so most will probably go for a decent Sky Sub and soon as you do you’re looking at crazy money over the duration.

From "news.sky.com"

Sky Glass will be available from £13 per month for the 43" screen, but consumers will also need a Sky TV subscription, taking the cost to £39 per month.
The 55" screen is available for £17 a month, and the 65" screen for £21 a month on top of the Sky TV subscription.
All three will begin retailing from 18 October.
The full price is £649 (43"), £849 (55") and £1049 (65").
The company says that all of the Sky Glass models come with a full two-year warranty and a free delivery service that includes unboxing and packaging removal.
