hi ive got virgin my wifi on my tablet is running at 2mb which is crap any ideas how i can increase it bearing in mind the tablet is 2.4ghz?

A friend of mine was having this issue with an SH3 so I told him to get his own router and he's never had an issue since.

yes i see what your saying but i shouldnt have to buy a router when im paying virgin for my service and the equipment

Turn off ipv6 or what ever its called. We had to buy a mesh system to get WiFi all over the house with virgin. But a good router will fix the issue.

My VM WiFi works all over the house, both gardens front and back, and about 10 metres away from front garden, which is 20 metres from the router

So guessing from your original post. The wireless is not working on your phone or your fire stick.

Now use Google and there is a app it will tell you exactly what speeds you are getting at the router and the device.

It's called something like ask dave. I am sure there is a browser you can install on firestick and phone.

No WiFi is working fine on both mate. Getting speeds up to 340meg. Just WiFi issues with iptv having that's the issue.

have you split your WiFi at the router into 2 different bands so you have 2 different SSid ‘s , 1 at 5ghz and 1 at 2.4ghz. Then connect your devices to 1 of these , the devices close to the router can connect to 5ghz ,anything further away connect to 2.4ghz.
Ye both WiFi bands been split long time ago mate.

Have tried both 2.4ghz and 5ghz but no difference.

Try changing the WiFi channel on your router may help as most are set to automatic
Did change manually to 6 and 11 and 40 and 48 on 5ghz and no difference.

Been told also best to have channel set to auto and Channel optimiser or whatever its called to auto also.

Even updating to a newer model firestick may help better processing power better WiFi signal.
As going to need to upgrade it soon CK as providers are changing codecs and you will be left with a black screen and just sound.
Completely understand that mate and not disputing that.

But just not issues on the firestick but the mobile phone as well. Its on few devices this issue tbh.

I understand WiFi on VM generally is bloody crap lol and no doubt a third party router or mesh system could resolve such issues.

VM pods I want to get and try to see how it is as they are free so no harm in trying them.

Been doing a few more tests on both WiFi, wired and mobile connection in different devices and giving me different results.

Gona change some settings in the router itself as read from few places that could help resolve these kinds of issues.

To be fair it has improved with hub 4. The biggest problem will be his firestick he needs a update.

as Mike said above disable ipv6 at router, firesticks are renowned for auto switching between ipv4 and ipv6 wifi connection when the signal fluctuates and that causes havoc when in mid stream

Vm pods are free you say when I enquired about there version of home plugs when I just started with VM they werenot free but added to you monthley bill like a rental cost.
At the end of the day it is iptv that is getting hit so try changing vpn locations, and you still not do understand when using mesh system you normally change VM router to Modem mode you are not using VM wifi at all it is disabled when in modem mode you are using mesh wifi.

Your right actualy regarding the pods.

Should have phrased it better sorry.

If your a volt customer or are on the oomph package then you can get up to 3 VM pods for free thats what I was advised.

They said for VM pods you dont put router in modem mode but it just extends and gives much stronger wifi signal.
