Advice needed please

Hello I am using a firestick at the moment but really want to upgrade to a system that will let me record. Like the old zgemma box did. Please can you give me some advice.regards Russ

You will never get 100% reliable IPTV recording, best you'll find and still not reliable are the Fomuler boxes with MYTvOnline app.

IPTV with catch up is the way to go but again this can let you down you need to find a good supplier.

Read my post above Formuler boxes and 2 connections are as good as IPTV recording gets.

You could try a cheaper android box and Tivimate app.

You can get a cheap adapter for the Firestick and use Tivimate or Implayer to save the recordings on the external drive.

Otherwise the shield pro is a much better system than the Firestick but due an upgrade.

I have a formuler pro max 11 and I tested recording to the local disk using Tivimate - very poor results!

I created this thread at the time. I ended up using catch up services rather than recording stuff

As mentioned get a sub with catchup much more reliable than recording. Some servers have replays aswell for football etc

Well mate I turned on AFR and it did it changed to 50fps but when I put it on a 25fps channel it still showed 50fps

I’m a fan of the formuler z11 box only had it couple of months but brilliant so far
I did record just to test on my tv and seemed to work ok but I agree with above posts best to find a good catch up service

Recording is still Useful if you don't plan on watching it for a while otherwise catchup covers it.

Does it switch to 60fps on US channels?
AFR on Tivimate doesn’t work correctly either for 25fps 30fps channels.
I use the AFR on my device instead now.
It has been mentioned on Reddit that Tivimate can match the tv refresh rate and not the actual fps on the image you are viewing.
Which makes sense that it just switches between 50hz and 60hz which most TV’s do depending on if you are watching 50hz or 60hz content.

Not sure why it doesn’t change for me on 25fps and 30fps images.
Maybe something to do with my device.

Agree, I still use Technomate 4k E2 for best recording, works fine (apart from occasional glitch which is always internet or supplier issue) and best bit is can still set series record which i have not see on android

The reason I bought z11 it deals with HDR and 4k better.

I don't use MyTVOnline - I don't like the UI as much as Tivimate. Another reason is that MyTVOnline requires the use of the "home" button on the Formuler remote to get to the main Android TV menu. I use my LG TV universal remote (which has no "home" button mapping) rather than the Formuler remote, which can only control the Formuler box. I don't want to have to use 2 x remotes - one remote to rule them all.

Same here use my Samsung remote
