Alexa Voice Control now works on OLD FireTV Stick

Got a notification from Amazon today, that with the FireTV app (on phone/pc etc) I can now use Alexa (Amazon's voice control utility) on my 1st generation FireTV stick. Tried it, and it works, just like my £50 Echo dot!

See https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201859020

Unlike the Echo, you need to pull the microphone button down on the app for Alexa to listen (on Echo, Alexa is listening all the time).

This is a brand new feature - the new 2nd gen FireTv stick can do it, so could a FireTV, or 1st gen FireTV stick with the optional voice remote. But now with a 1st gen stick all you need is to download the free FireTV app on a compatible phone/tablet/pc.

This was speculated in February, see http://www.aftvnews.com/alexa-is-co...tvs-and-fire-tv-sticks-in-the-uk-and-germany/

Cheers!
