Due to the imminent removal of sideloaded apps on Amazon Streamers with Google Tv surely following Linux will be the way forward. Sadly I know very little about the technology. Can we still load apps for streaming or m3u.

Yes you can sideload any android APK's.

Not as daunting as it sounds can easily be done via a file manager on the box and a USB stick.

The box above is on my list. I do not fully understand streaming links. m3u for instance. Using old laptop i3 intel onboard graphics with ubuntu and VLc installed and opening single test url's from Ghub fine.
I am missing something. How would VLC open lots of channels. Big gap in knowledge here. If I paid for server would it be a index with links to channels. Any help would be welcome.

Ferret, somehow I overlooked your helpful input. I will be looking at purchasing a Linux based box over the next month or so. Using old i3 laptop with onboard grabhics and ubuntu at the min, Trying to educate my aged but fully functional grey matter.

Come on Shrewsbury. 19th

Specs on that box are poor mind . 1gb ddr3 ram , 100mb lan , 8gb storage ? Not something I would consider ?

I did linux mint many years ago with boot manager and partitions win 7 and mint but forgot most things. Just recently added IPTV smarters added M3u server and this ol Lappy is playing well and teaching me how to add apps and shortcuts. A new streaming box is on the cards. Mira 4200 or 5200 not sure what the difference is.

come on Shrewsbury tomorrow night
