Firmware update required but which 1 !!!

New user ,have setup and installed combo hd starview without lan ,can get fta channels but thats it which firmware do u recommend I install for a cable connection on n*l to get all channels

doesn't HD starview required to be connected to a LAN in order for it to work? or have I confused myself?

There are 2 differant boxes 1 has lan the other not both are sv6 hd boxes but use differant firmware from wot I read hence the question. :)
