Liberty shield router

Does anyone know if the liberty shield router can be used without a sub as a WiFi extender?
Or is it just redundant without their subscription?

If its the small lite one you need a sub mate if it's the pro one which is black you can re flash them

Yeah it's the little one I've had for ages... Just wanting to use one in a port I've got... Looks like I need to buy a new router
