MINI Root login for Edision OS mini

Anyone know the root login password for the Edision OS mini?

Tried it blank and also tried 'passwd' but to no avail.

flashing a new image will reset it too.
make sure you have your line details or iptv backed up too before flashing...

I'll have to try a reflash . Factory reset didnt work

have you tried telnet to login to your box ?
or was it through browser ?

Tried telnet, webif terminal , putty all the same result.

maybe the supplier put password on it, ask them for it...

Supplier out of reach ,usual story.

First time I tried logging into the root.

That's my suspicion also they have enabled some password

'user' didnt work either.

Any way to brute force it ?

Have you rechecked your box ip is correct for webif and box has a connection to internet?

If you can access the receiver throuigh your local network:

Open /etc/passwd with Notepad++

On the first line delete the "x" after "root:". It's important to leave the colons

After editing, the first line should look like this:

root::0:0:root:/home/root:/bin/sh

Restart the receiver and the password will be reset (ie no password)

Yes Ip address is correct and box is connected to the network .

In the address bar of windows explorer type the IP address of your receiver preceded by \\
\\192.168.0.9 for example

Login credentials worked for the above was

Username: user
Password: user

edited the etc/passwd file , reboot and i'm in like flynn!!
