I think this is wired up correctly. Had to use the old wiring so spliced some of the old wrap and I think I should be good to go.. ?

if you are fitting all new alarms then the following is generally regarded as "standard" ( not a definite rule though )
Brown - permanent live
Black - interlink ( trigger )
Grey - neutral

use AICO alarms, they are simply the best for the price point.

red and blue coming from the mains, old wiring there mate, and also old wiring between room, probably newer than the red/blue from ECU.

ye, your red & black (blue oversleeve) is your live and neutral in, the brown,black,grey between the alarms is post 2007 and should be used as live, trigger , neutral , in that order

The aico optical should not be set off by vape according to them

Also If you use the 3000 series you can interrogate them to see what's happened.

I would stick with mains linkable rather than wireless if you can
