If it aint broke and your happy with the way it is working you could leave it.

Have a look at the release note and if a feature as been added or a bug fixed you needed fixing do the upgrade.

Thanks will look into the update and notes.

Anybody with a V8 know if the full factory reset option is hidden in 1 of the menu's or something as since recent updates I can only see the reset option in installation menu which only seems reset the channels etc from what I can tell.

Yeh I posted the same thing on GTmedia forum as I did here, and got a reply to say it's happened to several others, but the resolution does eventually appear (helpful), so it must be a new bug.

It seems to have fixed the issue with event timers, previously in 6639 if you set an event timer, it would record the program, but on playback it was just black screen.

Now with 6653 it plays back fine.

That's great to know was thinking of adding a HDD in near future and start recording. Does the box still record fine when in standby or does if have to be left awake and on the channel wanting to record ?

Also if you don't mind me asking did you factory reset the box before and after the upgrade or is that not necessary with the V8's ? Thanks

Can't say i've tried setting a timer and leaving the box in standby tbh, until now it's never worked properly, so always been left on the channel that I want to record from, and then when I needed to record i'd just press the record button.

I don't usually factory reset, but because of this issue yesterday, I did do a factory reset, but it didn't help in this case.

Thanks, I'm guessing you did the reset option In the installation menu ? I can't seem to find a full factory reset anywhere else unless it's hidden somewhere in menu's.
 
i have a Problem with the german paytv channel Beate-uhse-tv it is decrypted but not yellow why.on my viark sat 4k.the scrambled tv channel on the tv screen doesnt want to go away

Could be a one off, but i decided to post, if people got hurt or killed i couldn't of lived with myself had i not.

I'm an infrequent visitor to the gtmedia forum once a week if that. The post had been up a while and not one member had posted it on the bigger forums talking about these types of boxes.

Pay your money take your chance just turn them off when unattended.
