V8 Golden-----onwards from the V8 PRO

The V8 Golden is a combo box capable of running cable/satellite or terrestrial----you can also opeate cable and satellite at same time but you need 2 lines [1 for sat and a vm line for cable]
The Super is a pure satellite receiver which is a souped up version of the openbox V8 series but more powerful with an 800cpu.
The Angel is the company's flagship but needs a few updates to be a good box for uk.
The V7 mini box is a very small receiver [palm size] for sat only but is totally wifi.

v8 golden

Am I better off going for the golden then instead of the super, as I live in the UK

I've already told you that you are better off with the Super because you said you have no cable.

HI reaper i have two v8 goldens and use them for cable but when i do range search no channels are found have you come across this problem on theses boxes thanks

Ok,was just with you saying the super doesn't support cccam which I don't use when I checked I'm on n line with mgcamd.

Bit also the not intended for uk use confused me lol

Please read the post again---I said the Angel is not for UK if you want CCcam--I did say the Super is the box for UK

Thanks for the clarification Reaper. So, the Golden would be no good for me as I no longer subscribe to Virgin (I have cable to my house but, I assume, that the signal will no longer be present).

The Super would give me a smoother experience but no extra functionality over my V8s and would also mean I can't simply download the Waitelist for sorting my channels. I think, for my own situation, I'll stick with the V8s for now but your prices for these boxes are amazing!

Cheers

How is the channelist downloaded and installed on the golden/super. Still don't think it's been completely clarified.

Links have been given, but for us newbies to anything other than the v8s, we need some more certainty.

All I've caught on them is it isn't as simple as tp_prog and put the stick in and upgrade. It's got to be downloaded from somewhere else and be a a .bin file then after that I'm lost

There is no channel list downloads for these boxes, you make your own by using the db editor from the support site-----or you transfer your selected channels to the favourites .
We all had to learn m8 so do a little self research,. These boxes take a bit of getting use to but with a bit of playing around with them then they prove to be good. But if you feel you want to stay with the old easy series of V8 then thats up to you, no one is forcing you to buy or move on.
