What's the difference between a cline and an nline? - noob qiuestion

is one better than the other? looking at getting a line for my new F3 and want to make sure I get the right/best type! cheers.

the basic answer is a service provider who uses n-lines has to have a lot more technical know how to supply the service., that is why in most cases they are more stable and less of this type of provider around

c line is from a CCcam server
n line is from a Newcamd server

Newcamd takes advantage of cached ecm's too enable faster channel zapping and requesting less fresh ecms
CCcam is an older cam, still very good but can sometimes cause the occasional freezing with N lines

if a receiver supports MGcamd this is always the best option for an n line because it takes advantage of the cache benefits for a smoother better performance

cs101

While any amateur server builder can establish a CCCam server, a professional knowledge is required for a MGCamd system to be structured.

thanks, very helpful.

I have backed up the software/firmware which came with my box, and can see there is a CCcam CFG file, and a CCcam.prio file, both of which are 0 kb. There is also a newcamd LIST file which is 1kb. So from that, I assume I already have an nline but not a cline, correct?

just go into your cam settings and it will tell you if you have a c-line or a n=line if it is freezing 99% sure it is a c-line

I guess a lot must be down to the provider however, as I've seen a C-line run with far fewer freezes than an N-line on the same boxes/firmware.

n- lines 90% of the time out preform c-lines. i think you may of just been unlucky iconic

I am not sure if this is my problem, I have a v8s and went from cline to nline and quite frequently I get pauses of approximately 7 seconds, sometimes over 20. This never seemed to happen with my cline. Could this be the problem as I am really pulling my hair out
Thanks in advance for any help

How are you running your Nline in the CCcam or MG camd as works better in MG

It's in the mg area. I never seemed to have a problem then the gent where I got my cline had some problems and upgraded his system and sent me new details .
This however has never worked properly. I have upgraded home plugs, ports and everything and still randomly get this error. Can go for half an hour with no fault then I can have 10 or more pauses in quick succession . My internet is working however as I can on a long pause go to menu , the youporn enter password bring up list play something stop it. Come back out and go to tv and it is still waiting for mgcam. This then goes back to normal and continues.
I have had a test line back on cline with someone else and no faults . The odd millisecond flicker every hour or two .
It's starting to become joke in the family with the kids saying magic words to try to bring it back on

When it starts try just going up a channel to see if it stops if that is ok just go back
