If I wanted to use this (running VIX) would following this guide automatically change it over to OpenATV or would I need to do that first?

Thanks

Flashing with WooshBuild will put you on OpenATV automatically. You can start at step 1 or 2 if you already have a USB you use for recording etc.

Hi Wooshman, just asking if you can help with this one for me.

As i followed your instructions and its perfect for anyone to follow (many thanks again) i now have a VU Solo 2 and flashed it to this VU+ SOLO 2 | OpenViX what do i have to do to get it the same as the instructions within this tread, with the skin and channels etc etc

You just laid out so easy to follow so thought worth an ask

You will need to look on he vu forum, they may have backup images on there. Or WoS forum, they support vix so you may find something over there

thanks

thanks! I will be trying this for my first zgemma box and helps for new people like me coming from the openbox world

I am pleased you will give this a go, a lot of new people seem to like it.

You will however need to follow the instructions a bot better than the quick read you did before you posted as it clearly states:

:no no: DO NOT use this thread to get your first post count - That is what the introduce yourself thread is for: New Member - Please introduce yourself here. :no no:

So now your punishment is to go and post in the new member section to introduce yourself.Have fun with your first box, great little things with a lot of potential. More than just a sat box!

Sorry ;p

My bad! I have done as you have advised now ;p

I will be checking out the steps hopefully tonight once the little one has gone to bed.

Awesome build, great guide. Took me 20 mins start to finish, including wait times....

Thanks

The Picons didn't work though, no great loss I will have a play about with that

Spud

Nice time :-)

Uninstall any picons you have installed using
Green button -> Red button -> Picons -> uninstall

Then try again. They do work I did some lastnight. Use srp not snp picons

I just went through the picon steps again and all good, maybe something happened when I did the first download.

For anyone else, I have the timeshift, swap file and epg setup on a micro sd card 16gig in the side slot, to initialise it I had to use a SD card usb adapter in the front USB port, then take the card out and put it in the slot, it then shows up on your storage device as a selection along with the larger HDD plugged in the rear usb slot.

Again thanks for a great build (I have been using vix for 6 months)

Hi my USB will not flash - I have format FAT32 and still wont work - can anyone help please?

1. Have you copied the zgemma folder onto the stick? You need the zgemma folder AND the contents in it.

2. Try the rear USB port of the box.

3. Try a different USB stick

4. Search the forum for HDDGuru- It will low level format your stick (takes a while) but resolves the problem sometimes.

Hi my USB will not flash is not always a usb issue & as Wooshman stated in his reply, you have to ensure you have the entire folder for boot etc on your stick for it to work.

Interested in getting a H2S box and trying this image out. I normally use Vix.

Looks like there are issues in getting timeshift to work with SD card using Vix on this box. So can anyone confirm if using this image you can use the SD card for the following:

-Swap file
-Timeshift
-Recording

Two further questions if anyone has the patience to answer:
-I normally use 32GB USB 3.0 kingston flash drives with Zgemma boxes; I'm wondering if the performance of SD card will not be as good as a USB 3.0 flash drive, can anyone confirm?
-What's the max recommended size for the SD card? I remember reading that the max recommended size for USB is 32GB, can we go higher with SD card, maybe 64GB?

Thanks for any replies on this.

Also

I can confirm Swap file, timeshit and picons work flawlessly on SD but have not tried the recording as I use an external HDD due to personal required capacity (look at me with three big words)

USB 3.0 on these boxes have no advantage as they are USB 2.0 ports.

I see no reason why a larger card will not work. If you are unsure you can always ask in the zgemma section of the forum.

I have just been informed that I put timeshit and not timeshift. I like it, it is not sh1t at all.

Thanks for the reply. It's good to know that swap file and timeshift are working using SD card, I suspect the recording will too. What's the 3 big words about, lol?

Even though the ports on these boxes are USB 2.0 the actual read speed of most USB 3 drives are better than USB 2 drives, even when being used in a USB 2 port.

Regarding the max recommended SD card size, I'll post in the forum.

Moving on, the thing that draws me most away from Vix for zgemma boxes is the fact that you can do OTA updates - now that's something I didn't know until today and I think it's brilliant.
