Guys,
wasn't sure where to post this.
I'm looking to clone a windows hard drive to a fresh hard drive using my Mac
It's just I don't have a clean copy of windows to install onto the fresh hard drive it's for my old windows laptop that I would like to use again.

Thanks
PB

if you had an existing hdd with windows on it,you could clone it to the new drive with a cloning software like macrium reflect free version.done it often myself.the problems you will run into is hardware and driver conflicts between the donor machine and your old laptop.unless both machines have pretty much identical hardware its likely your lappy wont even boot.what you really need here is to find a copy of windows and do a fresh install.

If you are just simply replacing the hard in the old laptop you will be able to reinstall windows on that hard drive and use the same product key, depending on the age it should be contain within the bio and windows will automatically pick it up anyway or as said above just clone the drive complete, you will not come across driver issues if you are just replacing the drive but what you will need to do is, once you have re imaged the new drive you will need to adjust the partition table as you will not be using all the available space as i assume you will be buying a bigger drive.
