Thinking of buying a Thomson 270 Plus, I remember having to side load the channel 4 app a while ago onto my Shield as I couldn’t get it from the Play store, all the other apps were ok like bbc, itv, channel 5.

I would imagine it's similar to the ONN 4k Plus. .all the UK streaming apps loaded fine using a uk Google play account except Iplayer which I had to sideload.

Yes you are correct I did have to side load iplayer onto it but it’s a great box so far.

The Kinhank G1 is same specs as as the Onn 4k pro and Thomson 270 but has more RAM. Also made by the same Chinese manufacturer.

Nope just using the strong box handled everything I have threw at it and half the price. Just added productivity launcher to clean up the crap

There is only one Thomson 270 device. They do have 140 stick and a 240 box available.

Its a good box tbf, abit bulky but not heavy, just acquired a google streamer 4k so testing that currently, the 270 has limited ethernet speeds but worked fine on WiFi for my needs. Has anyone tested the thonson 140 stick?

I got a google streamer 4k (2024) for £35 off an auction site, not Ebay.

Use it as a backup and never had a problem with it.

You will find it hard to get that for under £60.

You could try cex for a used one but I don't have any links.

Keep your eyes peeled on amazon, i purchased some its always on offer at £59 and on prime but some days its over £90 and not prime delivery

Streamer runs ATV14, has slightly better geek bench scores and more RAM. Gigabyte ethernet but doesn’t have usb port.
The 270 is on Android 12 not sure if it has a possible update to ATV14 and the Ethernet port is 100Mbps but does have a usb port.

I don't need usb port, just want a quick processor, which i believe Streamer edges the 270. Moving away from firestick as there is very useful free mod vpn's i can use that don't work on firestick

The 270 was £60 on Amazon but no stock and upto £100 for it.
The google can be had for £75 just now with a student code.
