Another IPTV Shutdown - Police Logging IP's

I have a paid vpn so some saying it’s not worth having one while others say they will protect so I’m not sure now if they work

in my opinion they allow you to access things that your ISP has blocked etc and does stop your ISP seeing what you are browsing/streaming but I don't think there is any other benefit. I've never used one

Vpn providers store your data for upto 12 months and the powers that be can get onto vpn providers to release the data via court orders. Don't forget vpn providers will have your real ip address aswell from what I've read and watched. Most use them to access content from USA Netflix ect and torrent downloading and porn hub at silly o clock lol

My backup USA based iptv provider, said no UK channels from Monday.
Change provider. I have posted this so many times but no one takes any notice. There are servers around running from places where the authorities have no interest in a server operator. Get a sub from there and use a strong vpn and that will keep off the radar so to speak.

There are vpn operators that has no connection to the uk or the eu so as for getting access to the real ip its not possible. Its not called the world wide web for nothing. One has to think outside the box :imp: I have a contact out in the far east who runs a very big setup on iptv.

My IPTV supplier has gone off 1/7/20 when I try to logon get channel seized with Norfolk police logo on screen and you ip has been recorded.
Been with him over 2 years plus been spot on.
This morning got a message to supply my user/pwd details a screen shot of my last bank transfer payment for service,so he can get me back on.
I dont know him personally only via fb could this be a scammer and what info can be revealed with user/pwd details and screen shot of last payment?
I have messaged him about other things but he wants above details first.
Should I be worried?

Sounds like he's a reseller of the service that's been taken down, but that he's going to honour your subscription. I'd send him the details but be sure to crop the screenshot so only the information he needs is showing.

Ok didnt know if police had taken over and looking to prosecute the users of the service.
Should I get a VPN now as my supplier said I didnt need one?
Thanks

The police have shut down that iptv service, I suspect your iptv guy was just a reseller of it and is going to provide you with another subscription to a different service... ask him for clarification though.

Whether you need a vpn is a matter of opinion. I don't use one for viewing iptv, others wouldn't view iptv without one.

VPNs may protect and of course if police wanted to they could raid such providers to get information of users. How likely that will be who knows. But I sure dont believe when most claim they dont keep logs. I am sure some do of some kind of your traffic.

Up to person if they really want to use VPN or not. There really isnt a right answer tbh.

The guy will just be a reseller as already mentioned, I was with the provider that got shut down but I got my subs direct from them so have recieved no emails.

Some would happily do a runner and take peoples money whether they get busted or not. Find whatever excuse they can unfortunately.

Despite what is being said they did not get shut down and nobody from GE got arrested. It was there provider that got shut down and they used it as a way to escape as their service has been going downhill and have had many issues and problems and they did say the day before the group was getting archived but then it got deleted a few hours later. They have setup again under a new name and 2 days layer had 57 ex GE customers and 1 admin from the group. They would not allow me to join the group so joined under a different account which was accepted until I said I know who you are and got kicked out and blocked.

They done this before a few years back. Disappeared.. then a new group opened up same admin with slightly different names. They went massive again. Seems its the same now

Well I have deleted everything to do with GE from my bookmarks so no links plus yes they were having problems when football started there was a grass or someone from sly gave out or got url they changed that about 3 times and some of us were still working with last url on zgemmas etc they were also modding all and even two new ones apps so no url needed that did not look like a group that were going do a runner and had been on the page most days and never once seen a notice that they were going to archive the group. it was acrhived the same day most got the notice from suffolk police.
Personally I never once had a problem with them and thought they were allways helpfull.

i will weigh in with my point of view. the way to go is to allow no m3us. allow only server linked apps only.

the majority of issues appear to come from dns blocks only. if people want iptv to continue this is what they will need to look at.

its not about what the eend user thinks they can or cant do, its about prolonging the life of an accessible platform for the majority.

there is pretty much nothing left for the authorities to target now that vm cs is nearly extinct.

iptv is where the focus will be next.

GE was alwful for along time on and off -- i left them a while ago but i know people who stayed and got shafted too and the post from police i seen before on another provider so ain't a new thing like they saying ....... if it true got bust then maybe good / bad thing if selling some to massive but cant provide it like theft and the future will be iptv just like mp3 in my days -- mp3 still around -- but there spotify / itunes & others

so many people think a VPN will protect you... nope it wont...sure it will clear content that wont clear without a VPN but this still doesn't hide your activity or stop your internet provider from knowing your every move, internet providers have the ability to know where & when you have connected simply by looking at logs which makes me wonder IF running a 'virtual machine' behind a VPN would be any different? networking isn't my strongest subject what do you guys think?

Depends on which provider you opt to go with, some have stood up to some pretty serious scrutiny.

ExpressVPN server seized in Turkey turns up no info in assassination case

If there were no logs to find in relation to an high profile assassination, i'd be reasonably confident in using them for IPTV

The downside is that will probably cost you the same, or more than your sub, but you get what you pay for, and if you wanted a VPN whose policies had been put to the test, i'd say that this service would be at the top of the list.
