Covid-19 the second wave

More patients is probably due to more people with non covid ailments finally getting treatment.
No I'm not saving lives and nether are you but I'm not making outlandish claims with no basis

Actually your wrong there those high numbers of cases he and his colleagues have been dealing with ARE covid related.

Feel free to make claims that you know more about what is happening in hospitals than people actually in these places every single day.

You carry on believing what your mate Boris says and propaganda media.

i am working on front line care as is my wife, and we are in one of the worst affected areas of the country.

covid cases are dropping.

the national data also backs that up

ironically you have chatted to your gp who says he's very busy, yet you extrapolate that out to say "Second wave is coming only matter of time. "

and then accuse others of baseless claims.

ho hum.

Not chatted actually had in depth conversation how he and others in hospitals are really struggling at the moment. Cases haven't dropped as much as has been reported.

He and others are around the clock working and assure you it shows.

I have suffered the tragedy of losing children in my family and seen close friends suffer also, no point me saying much more about this to you as you dont even try to see anyone elses point of view, maybe if you ever suffer such a loss then you may see it differently, I pray to God that does not happen, I wont be making any more posts on this thread, anyone else reading on this thread maybe will get what I am trying to say, this guy just wants to start an argument and keep it going.

I lost a cousin aged 2 if it makes my points anymore or less valid.

The numbers don't change though.

Children are safe, the rates of infection are dropping.

People should be able to chose their own level of risk.

Lockdown has not been neutral. A great many lives will have been lost to isolation, lack of health care, and the recession will take its toll on the poorest also.

People should be able to chose their own level of risk.

People seem to be doing so. I'm seeing more cars on the road, more people in town centres, more people out and about at traditional commuting times, more people socialising with friends, family and neighbours, children playing in the streets and on the parks again.

What exactly is it that you'd like to see happen, and when?

I'd like to see teaching unions stop celebrating keeping schools shut.

I'd like to be able to visit friends and family in their houses.

I'd like pubs and restaurants to be open.

I'd like for people to be able to have visits in care homes.

Most of all, I'd like a haircut.

School holidays in 3-4 weeks, the whole situation might be more clear after that, particularly with the reduction in the social distancing measurement.

I'd like to be able to visit friends and family in their houses.

You can. Nobody has stopped me to ask why I'm going to people's houses. You say "people" need to make their own decisions about the risk yet you don't seem willing or able to make your own sensible steps towards normality?

I'd like pubs and restaurants to be open.

Again, the 2m rule being relaxed will help enable this. You know that really.

I'd like for people to be able to have visits in care homes.

Everyone would. The risk is greater here though isn't it? Is it sensible to visit just yet? I genuinely don't have any knowledge or experience of care homes so can't say any more.

Most of all, I'd like a haircut.

Lots of barbers/hairdressers have been working at home or doing home appointments. Based on the data in my area I think it's safe to get a haircut and could easily arrange one now.

Why am I not surprised at this thread?
This crap has been slipping into TK on a regular basis, and the mod team will no longer stand for it.
BY ALL MEANS, DISAGREE WITH EACH OTHERS POSITIONS, BUT STOP PERSONALISING IT!!!
Just in passing, it is not right yo report a post saying someone is abusing you when you then abuse them, you should have more sense.

@Obi wan bissaka , @pabloescaban , @pupuqiop - give it up, you are all three on a final warning as to your behaviour, there will be timeouts issued, followed by complete bans.

Play nice, or go to one of the bitchy forums, we do not intend to change our stance as the friendliest forum around. (Plus the most helpful)

Could you please point out where I've fallen foul of the standards expected today Wheelo as I genuinely tried to stick to a fact based debate here and have kept in mind the unnecessary work that conflict can cause for you guys running the site.

I would just like to say 1 thing, I didn't say nothing towards the person who thought it was nessesary to call me a k***head I made 1 comment in the thread agreeing with getting back to normal. Anyway going to bed good night all (y)

I think the term "safe" doesnt really apply anymore.

With the virus likely to be around for a long time not sure there is a "safe" anything for anyone.

You just to have to live every day more carefully and just be more alert.

Normality will never be as it was before I dont think.

That's a post from quite a while back in the thread. I'm not sure why you're bringing it into tonight's discussion when you've chosen not to respond to anything else I've said.
Because 3 weeks ago you were going on about waiting until September and tonight yoube been saying everything is practically back to normal

Schools are waiting till September at the earliest to allow all children back.

Tonight I said some children are now back in school based education.

Tonight I pointed out a number of examples of things beginning to return to some sort of normality.

These were my words. Things are getting back to normal. I never said "everything was practically back to normal."

Things are getting back to normal. Non-essential shops are open, many children are back in school based education, holidays are being booked in this country and clear steps are being made to enable holidaying abroad again, there's talk of relaxing the 2m rule which will solve many obstacles some industries are trying to overcome, and the % of furlough payments from the government coffers is going to be reduced - forcing the hand of employers who've left their workforces at home at the taxpayers expense.

Unfortunately plenty want to delay this.

Might be understandable, but it's misguided.

These types of virus become weaker over time (variants that kill the host do not spread as much as variants that cause mild symptoms due to the latter resulting in more contact) and there is less risk outdoors generally.

As long as people are sensible and respectful - and I do think social norms might have changed permanently - there's no reason for kids to get to school and people to get back to work. It needs stating as many are arguing against it.

Congratulations
You win
You should feel proud
No really.
After all the noise you made a month ago about any kind of return to normality and now you're attempting to say it was all in jest or similar.
It's hardly a surprise when you said in the other thread that of all the humans in existence you'd like sit down with Jeremy Corbyn. He'd probably tell you you were right.
Worst election results in 85 years
