Covid19 Vaccination

I think it will be Holland, Switzerland and Demark will jump ship.

The truth is the UK would not of left if the EU come to a deal to stop free movement

I think covid is going to shake things up in the EU because the rich countries will look after themselves and the poor countries will have the scraps. Making the union very divided

Switzerland is NOT in the EU

I think they certinaly have a free trade deal and are bound by some rules. Could be wrong.
ye, they are EEA
but deffo NOT EU
its not 100% free trade deal, but trade on their own terms with a seperate EU deal
NO free pasaage of persons etc

Covid vaccine: Single-dose Johnson & Johnson jab is 66% effective

Another vaccine

"The US, UK and EU have struck deals for the J&J vaccine of at least 100m, 30m and 200m doses, respectively."

"Safety profile of J&J is very strong—no anaphylaxis, etc." This might be a good one for those concerned about the safety of other vaccines.

The effectivity of this vaccine its less effective though compared to the mainstream ones out there atm.

We will see so many more vaccines being made throughout the world over the coming months.

But it's single shot and can be stored at fridge temperature for up to three months so taking into account the efficacy there are definite pros and cons to this vaccine.

"J&J has promised to price the vaccine on a “non-profit basis” for the duration of the pandemic — about $10 a shot."

"The vaccine was 85 per cent effective at preventing severe Covid-19. Twenty-eight days after the jab, it offered “complete protection” from hospitalisation and death."

66% effectivity is more than enough to stop a pandemic.
Yes 34% not protected but it reduces hospitalisations and serious illness by at least two thirds.

The J&J is only one jab though so this would speed up the vaccination process if this was used as you wouldn't have to have appointements for the second dose. I think over time all the vaccines will become one jab but it just perfecting the vaccine and you can only do that with data and test subjects which is increasing every day.

You've sold it for me lads! It's the J&J for me, it ticks all the boxes... non-profit and one jab only , excellent with an 85% efactability
I'll be getting on the horn to the NHS UK first thing tomorrow morning, to tell them not to bother contacting me
unless it's the J&J lol

that's lol (joke)

I've just watched an interview where it was suggested that vaccines could be administered by patch (like nicotine patches) Or melt under the tongue lozenges and in numerous other ways other than injection, this isn't sci-fi, it's going to happen probably this year or next.
This removes a huge logistical headache and will transform vaccine distribution especially in third world countries

Exactly and tbh will benefit third world countries more than anyone.

Different ways to distribute vaccines and the ease of it in the near future is only a positive and will greatly be beneficial to those countries that don't have the resources at hand.

Yes it will be a godsend for far flung villages and settlements with no doctors or healthcare facilities.
Likewise the new J&J vaccine, one shot and no special storage required, one medic could sort a village of a thousand in one day and on to the next, they're game changers.
Pfizer and Moderna all well and good if you live in New York or London with -70 storage facilities but no use in most of Africa, Asia and S America and about 80% of the rest of the world

I've moved the last page into another thread as it went way off topic.
