You can download it straight to the box

Menu - Setup - VIX - Image manager
I've followed this path and I get a message saying
Device: there was a problem with this devic, please reformat... so that's obviously what I need to do.

I am a member at WOS, but I am not really sure what I am looking for. I've searched for a reformat or flash tut for Amiko with e2/vix and I'm not finding anything. Sorry to be a pain, this is my first foray into anything other than Skyboxes.

It's definitely a faulty box. I just flashed a Vu+ Duo box and installed softcams in about 40 minutes and I spent about 15 hours on the Amiko box and got nowhere. I'll send it back. Thanks for your help anyway.

now you might get the idea of why we suggest better boxes, hows the vu very pleased?
this thread was more for enigma2 boxes so unsure if amiko would apply as might be setup different, reformat can be on pc/laptop or mentioned on forum what to use.
bees has done a tut for amiko boxes.

The channel list recommended on here still has all the Sky HD channels. Is there a more up-to-date one anywhere?

I must say, I find it easier to use the AutoBouquet maker than using a channel list as it updates itself at whatever time of the day you set it up. Also it sets itself up with the same channel numbering as sky. You can then delete whatever channels (or type of channel - Porn, Kids, music, or whatever) you don't wish to be on your box.

yep run vix and abm setup area with sd will load sd first and hd be down near the bottom as bbc1 and bbc2 and others still work on hd.

hi cactikid .ive got 1.38 set up on my gigablue, when you say ftp 2 files on filezilla do you mean the full mgcamd folder or are you just ftp the mg_cfg file? im ok with newcamd list im just a bit wary of putting the full mgcamd folder to var/keys as mine has a 1.38 file on it

2 files i ftp over on my vu are mg_cfg and newcamd list both are in var/key the only 2 that are there. if i want to flash a new image i just go to filezilla and ftp both files back to laptop and then back again when needed, edit when inserted if adding new line and save.

Can someone please direct me were to find downloads and software tutorials please iv just ordered a GiGaBlue HD 800 SE+ Plus 1x Satellite DVB-S/S2 + 1x Hybrid DVB-C/T Linux Enigma2

Is this box good enough to get virgin on newbie here please any advice welcome

It already has vix on it so what else would I have to install

What you mean I have virgin broadband

I'm buzzing that you have helped me usually on other sites no reply when I ask

Is there anything in the tutorial I won't need or is confusing when installing on the gigablue

From what I can see I download something on the laptop then put the two files I download onto memorstick through the program then put memory stick in gigablue is that roughly right

Do I need to update firmware first openmips 4.2

Lol OK IL be back on next week or when it arrives

Was just wondering coz it doesn't say about updating before flashing it

In tutorials

What you mean server?

We're do you get lists and prices of server and how you pay and how often

One my friends has a kryptview and he's never mentioned paying a server

I'm just glad I have someone to advise and guide me

OK cheers don't want kicking out

Does the box work well with wifi

The box connects to the kryptview server, it's in with the price of the box.

If the server goes down the box is a brick.

With these boxes if your server goes down, you just go to another server.

The service is generally much better and a lot more stable than the KV boxes, look in the KV section
at all the comments at the moment.

Server details can only be passed on by PM, don't mention details on the open forum.
How much is servers is it a monthly bill weekly or yearly

Does the box work well with wifi

Direct ethernet cable from router or a pair of homeplugs
if your router is in a different room to the TV is best.

WiFi can be hit and miss

Check your private messages, look at "notifications" at the top of your screen
I Carnt even find servers or prices I don't get this

Would I be able to get my old eurovox think it was 7000 working

Just follow the tutorial when your box arrives and you will be fine ;)

If you get stuck just start a new thread in the "general cable" section and give as much detail about what you have done so far
and members will help you out (y)

You will need a line (subscription to a server) for your box

You can post a request here

Basically what you are going to do is use the setup wizard to set up your HDMI and internet connection.

Then you are going to use Autoboquet maker in the menus so you get a nice neat channel list split into groups like sport, films, kids etc.

You will then scan for channels, you will need your "net id" for cable.

Then you are going to add a plugin to the box called CCcam or MG Cam or both.

After that you will use a program called filezilla to transfer your line details to your box.

You can do the steps in slightly different order if you want but you will need to do all of them.

Finally you will switch on the cam and then you can sit down and relax lol

Your welcome, we all started out the same way (y)

It's a lot easier when you have got the box in front of you, so you can just chill for now.

You can start pulling your hair out later lol

You don't have to, just follow wheelos tutorial.

In the mean time you need to find out your net id and look for a server that you like the sound of.

You can then get a test line to try when your box comes.

Most tests are free and last 24 hrs so don't ask for one too early.

You pay a server a subscription fee, he sends you a bit of code, we call a line.

You put the line in the box and it allows you to unlock all the scrambled channels.

Have we got this far and you didn't realise you need a server ??? lol

All boxes need servers to work, the encryption systems changes about every 7 secs
so the boxes can't keep up, long gone are the days when it could be done at the box.

That's why your box is hooked up to the net so the server can send you the information
it needs.

The box connects to the kryptview server, it's in with the price of the box.

Squeek, please use your head when posting - do not make three, or four posts in a row, inside three or four minutes, gather your thoughts, then post a four or five sentence question, or series of questions.
Make sure you are in the correct section - you seem to be asking about cable in the Sat section. (I will give you that you seem to have used the search functon to find a thread that deals with VIX box set-up)
when Bees tells you that you are better off having the box in front of you before getting into the nitty-gritty of the set up, he is correct, as until you can press the buttons that you need to, you cannot see what is going on, etc.

I have merged all your posts into one post, and all of Bees answers into another.

ive tryed the install dreambox edit to computer also the filezilla but none of them seems to work after i follow the steps

You have Filezilla and Dreambox editor installed on your computer? or you cant get them to install? give as much information as you can - explaining where you are in the process, and what wont work, then we can help you more easily and completely.

aye and things have changed since wheelo did the tut:whistling:more grey hairs or less lol, with new images like vix you will have to download plugins from the menu-look for softcams and if using nline use mg_cam1.38,or cline use cccam 2.3.0 and select with ok and box installs them to box exit out now you can use filezilla to add the file/files.:bye:

idont understand ive got a ccam.cfg file that I have put in the etc folder. and done the blue button stuff but still not getting paid channels

I used the tutorial above downloading the files it told me to in there. and then added my ccam.cfg to etc, but not getting channels ? have I done something wrong ?

Apologies if this might be in the wrong section, but for any box would I need to flash the bootloader first before flashing the VIX image?

hi guys, im really struggling now! i followed the setup guide step by step, and managed to get the free to air channels, but cannot get any sly channels! i tried the line on my openbox, and i think is working, unfortunately, the supplier is no help at all!!! i am completely new at this as my openbox was bought all set up. please someone help!!
