Southgate should have reacted to that, needed a change in dynamic imo - Grealish or Sancho as an attacking outlet.

England were constantly pegged back and just were too defensive in the normal 90 minutes .
When a change in system was needed to offer an alternative to push for the second goal Southgate refused to change. Should have been more positive.

in international terms that is like a prem team playing championship sides.
only a few countries have high concentrations of top players. denmark were bringing on brentford players v us and they are 10th in the rankings.
some interesting tidbits re the game last night:

Italy didn't beat anyone great either - a Belgium team with key players carrying injuries and a very ordinary Spain team. You can only beat what's put in front you and England did that till they faced Italy.
Southgate is certainly a very limited manager, but he was being lauded for his single minded approach up until last night.

It was a terrible tournament to be fair, probably the weakest in living memory
Far too many teams allowed to qualify, group stages far to easy to navigate, italy the only standout side.
When the top 2-3 teams dont perform everyone is at the level of dross.

How he stayed on the pitch beats me, in rugby which is a full contact sport he'd have been sent off.

Should have been sent off which such a disgraceful foul.
Ref clearly was bias and had an absolute shocker.
I thought the ref had a really good game in all fairness

Agreed had a fair game some refs would’ve been card happy but he let the game flow as much as possible.
Ref wasn’t bias he’s just not card happy like most refs are in this day and age.
I agree if it was a clear goal scoring opportunity it would’ve been red but because it wasn’t a yellow was fair enough IMO
