I don't game so I rarely bother to monitor my GPU Temps.

I use Core Temp for my CPU monitoring.

Speaking of Temps?

I noticed yesterday that my own CPU Temps had risen to 82c & was remaining there constantly. We are having exceptionally hot weather here at the moment so I wasn't too pushed about it. My machine is constantly left on (all the green people go mad) & has been since I built it back in 2007 with the exception of restarts due to updates\installations etc.

This morning it was sitting pretty at 82c+ but was doing absolutely nothing stress wise, so I opened the Windows task manager to check the processes & found that Firefox (v22) was sucking diesel, I disabled the FF process and my Temps dropped back to 45c - 47c within seconds? I'm running Chrome now and my Temps are remaining steady in the mid 40's.....

WTF are FF at?

I have had issues in the past where I noticed things were lagging like something big was working in the background and so I would get to poking around and just like you did, discover a FF process was smoking along hung up. Killed it and things went back to normal.

yep, it seems to me no matter what browser i use, sooner or later it updates to a "new and better version" and all of a sudden i have issues.went from ff to chrome to comodo dragon, now back to ff (nightly version). no problems yet and it is a 64 bit edition. thanks for the info gman, will take a look today. Al
