Time to buy a new phone, suggestions

Well I've come to the conclusion that the lower to mid range phone market is saturated to the point its p*ss wet through, no infact it's more like drowning in a sea of phones. As soon as you think, ah that will do up pops another then another and so on.

I got my knackered M51 back from Samsung and I've sent it on to a guy who reckons there ain't many phones he cannot fix, a logic board repair specialist.

I'll see how he goes with it and if he resurrects it I will spend what I save on a night out for me and the missus. If he doesnt ?, then its back on the hunt trail.

So after much deliberation, YouTube reviews, comparison sites and what do I need from a phone I have picked the

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 pro+ plus 5g 8gb-ram 256gb

The main points are the
screen amoled 120Hz refresh
size 6.7
earphone socket (old school)
SD card slot
8gb ram and huge 256gb storage
4k 30fps video
the screen holds up well in sunlight
the price under £350 which for what you get is brilliant

and not only that it's good looking phone. I'm not a gamer so the slight lack of processor speed wont affect me in the slightest.

Then there's the battery, my old M62 had a 7000 this has a 5000

but.....
17minutes 0-100% 120w charger means there's no long delays waiting so the slightly smaller wont be a problem.

The lowest I've seen is £335 eBay free shipping. My sons after one as well so if anyone spots one cheaper please let me know, thanks

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 pro+ plus 5g 8gb-ram 256gb has a mediatek chip. It's snapdragon all the way for me. My f3 runs the snapdragon 870 and that is pretty fast. We once tried a huawei with a krin chip in it and sent it back and bought the poco f1. Hope you enjoy your phone though.

I'd rather Snapdragon myself too.
They dont sell the 11 pro+ 5g in this country it's not on the mi store.
The non global ones have different LTE bands.

Edit
I've just looked again it is on there on upcoming sales £369 with 3 months free credit.
They only had the 3 other variations yesterday note 11...pro and the pro 5G.

samsung s21 ultra refurbished.

from £489.99 with code HUKD154G522

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G Phantom Black

let's see how it is as it will be here tomorrow. might be a bit overkill for some but it's a bloody good phone
I had a Samsung s9 for about 3 months and then I traded it back into carphonewarehouse. I had come from a oneplus 3t and loved the dual sim, I should have bought a oneplus 6 but I thought oh Samsung there the best. I hated it. Battery life was so poor. Once sold I bought a oneplus 6t McLaren. Now I have the poco f3 dual sim and that's a good phone for a reasonable price. Hope your samsung lives up to expectations as you can get that same gen 1 chipset in both oneplus and Xiaomi products now.

My sons took the plunge (he's more money than me :) ) and bought a Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5g (Global version) it's the 8gb 256gb version. Looks like it will be a couple of weeks but I will let you know what he thinks. If it's no good simple for him, get another,

Oh the days hey !

My sone has had a couple of Redmi phones in the past and couldn't critisize them at all.

Had Samsung in the past, use a Redmi now, Samsung are fine if your hobby is charging phones, fully charged for a trip to Aldi and by the time you get home it's on its arse

To be honest I have to agree, Samsung are over priced. You end up paying top premium just to pay for all the advertising. Regarding battery life ?, the 7000 batteries on some Samsung phones (my old M51) are unreal. I've gone well over 5 days light usage before I needed to charge. I'll have a go on my sons Redmi when it lands and if its ok I might take the plunge.
My other son recently bought a IPhone 13 Pro, he went away for a few days Cornwall and even though I don't like iPhone the photo's he took on it down there were top notch quality (and the video) They were well above any Android I've used.

i can see what everyone's been on about regarding the batteries on Samsung.

piece of sh1t 5000mh has been used now for 7hrs and has already dropped 16% to 84%.

mind you, i have only been setting it up via wireless and transferring all my apps, data etc across and watching the footy for 90 minutes.

im not sure if i can cope with it losing 2% per hour with such light usage.

I'm loving that people will pay stupid amounts of money for a phone,
But get all fkd up about paying £200 year for TV.
Decent mid range phone honestly think would suffice for most.

Don't understand why some pay silly prices for phones with all the bells and whistles.

Bit pointless going overboard on phones imo.
