So my brother had a stroke so can't do anything other than simply watch TV (he can move about but not communicate very well and has lost use of his right hand/arm). Reason for mentioning this is I want to get him a set and forget box.
Now I was thinking of the old faithful Zgemma (because i can log into it remotely if I actually need to fix the thing). But I have had my head turned slightly by the Formuler Z11pro max and the Thompson 270 for their apparent speed/snappiness.
The real issue is I live 500 miles from my bro. So I need something that I can either set up and it will simply "work" or I need to be able to log in remotely like I can on the Zgemma (I did this using an old laptop constantly on in his house with teamvieiwer running which then allowed me onto his network to do channel lists/provider changes etc.)
He only need it to watch live TV. Recording and timeshift and all that are not required. Good reliable epg would be a good asset but not a disaster if it failed.
He will only be using it for TV (iptv).
If you guys were in this situation which box would you pick? As you can probably tell by the choices I put up money isn't an issue really. The ability to either leave it switched on or for it to basically be switched on and be easily into TV mode are the must haves. No bloatware as much as possible.
