Best Enigma 2 boxes?

It depends tbh. All my cousins who use only IPTV love using the firestick for simplicity but because i have enigma 2 boxes all around the house i prefer my IPTV on enigma 2 which seamlessly works with my FTA and motorised set up.
With enigma 2, recording on IPTV is very straightforward. TBh i dont use android boxes to compare it with so cant comment on the recording ability.
Once you got JEDI plug in, the IPTV is quick to zap EPG is perfect and picture quality is great. The only disadvantage is that it requires more technical ability to get your playlist onto enigma 2 and every time you update it you prob have to put it back on.

Ferret , either way the discussion is enigma2 boxes, and yes perhaps @jonnymac67 perhaps worded it in wrong way.
Yes I agree android boxes will out perform E2 but I still prefer the fact I have all options on one device i,e, satellite ,terrestrial . how long that may last is a different thing  and iptv.
Yh thats my point too. Its a perfect all in one device if you have FTA and still use cardsharing and have motorised set up. etc

Totally agree, E2 setup needs a degree of experience/knowledge so not for everyone. But recording is far superior than Android. You get Series link, and if/when stream glitches the recording will auto restart (i missed a max 2 laps around lap 20 of F1 on Sunday) whereas if that as on android I would have lost everything past lap 20.

I have a Tiviar Alpha box for sat, Freeview and IPTV and for me it's brilliant.

I used to be able to record IPTV ok but earlier this year I changed to one of the pre build options on here and had to use BMX(think that is it) after Jedi was not any good and I can't record anymore.

I am still with the same supplier 3 cons but as I have a catch up supplier is that.

All my other Enigma 2 boxes were Zgemmas.

Have you ever thought about forgetting so called pre build and just installing build and plugins you need I can assure you nothing to do with BMX I am recording a stream right now from provider with only one connection but I just switced to satellite while this is recording so you should not have any problem is multistream account

I have been looking to change my Vu plus Solo2 for a long time so this may be a options thanks
Bare in mind that receiver does not have a built in HDD slot. If you plan to record i would prefer an an actually HDD to do this. Stick to VU. I think its by far the best enigma 2 receivers you can get.
Although yes it does come with a high price tag

Yes, its the codec HEVC 265 lots of people have 4 k tv's and 265 is 4K and with IPTV a lot of streams will be hevc265 so these wont play on the solo2. If you are not interested in 4k and iptv then Solo2 is fine until 2030. Mind you you can get IPTV in HD and SD .

Hello all - I'm thinking of getting one of these types of boxes, manly as we currently pay £7 a month for Sky Q just to use the freeview channels. I've read a few boxes mentioned in this thread, but what box would anyone recommend? My needs are just to use it for Freesat, and preferably have recording facilities (we have Sky Q mainly as the wife records all the soaps via series link).

I have a firecube which I use for now tv, streamio and IPTV, I've read that using Android is better than an enigma box for IPTV, however reading other posters I like the thought of being able to put some of my IPTV sports channels into a folder on the TV guide which I believe can be done?

Not sure if it's easier just to buy one of those official Freesat recorders for £200?

Last question - if using IPTV channels on an enigma box, can a VPN be used? I use PIA VPN on my firecube currently.

Thanks in advance for any replies
